That's a dang shame! Always sad when a school is forced to close it's doors
What a rich sports tradition Beallsville High had, especially in football with all those playoff appearances, OVAC and PVC titles.
No telling where all the kids will transfer, but a good bet is Barnesville.

      Go Blue Devils!

As a person who has been to a few Beallsville football games, in my opinion it's truly a sad day for such a proud community.

Nobody would care if Connoton Valley closed because they are bad in football.

Anybody check on my sweetheart RES? Is he hanging from a tree?

CV may not have the strongest football program but that does not mean they aren't a quality school district. And the basketball fans in their communities would definitely care if their 3x defending OVAC champ school closed, including a sweep of boys and girls a few years ago.

Are residents of the Beallsville school district paying a tax for the construction of that building ? If so, does that tax now stop ?

From what I understand new building projects are funded partly from the school district, Switzerland in this case and the Ohio School Facilities Commission. Usually the school district must raise a % of the funds based on need the State kicks in the rest. So we as tax payers in the state actually helped fund the new Beallsville High school which now will be sold at a loss to someone.

Beallsville school houses students from kindergarten to 12th grade. The building will not close as the plan is to move the frosh to seniors to the other high schools in the district.

How does closing beallsville help? Building still has to be heated, lit, and power on for K-8. BOE built a new schools and
now has lied about it. superintendant hall wasn't even at the meeting Thursday... He imitated Winkler and was a no show

I think if Beallsville residents get the right law firm they could save their school, but that's going to be a tough fight. The money follows the students as far as tax dollars. There's more $$$ in the Beallsville area than any other area of the county with all the mining, gas pipelining, etc. Wonder if they'd come up with an idea to "home school" the entire student body in one building? Such a shame to read the school board president (Winkler) didn't even show up for the meeting.

the one thing some of you are forgetting about is that while there is alot of money following into the area, it is still taxed at the same rate . they are not getting the increase in revenue based on the increase in income in the area. another thing is the lost tax revenue from ormet. there is alot of tax revenue to be made up .....i don't understand the logic of closing beallsville high school if they are going to still use the building for k-8 grade. how is this saving money? wouldn't the amount that they would save be used up by busing these kids to other schools? it probably is going to be hard on these parents to see their kids in different school colors after all these years at beallsville. one other thing, are they going to bus the beallsville kids that play sports to and from practice lets say that some of them go to river and some go to monroe central?

The residents must still pay taxes to pay for the cost of the construction of the new schools, even though the high school will cose after this school year.

Shame. I'd always get a kick of seeing the Beallsville team pictures in the program, then look at their opponents to see them outnumbered 3 to 1 at least. But they always came to play.
