Seen the new big screen. Sits to far back from stands hard to see. Is the Island is the only stadium with Turf when it rains players get muddy? Who was the bright one who thought Turf + Island = Good idea? Is it JM's stadium? More brown at the Island than JM's field.

It was a real shame when the island flooded like 1 week after the turf was put in..."Failure gave me Strength... Pain was my Motivation" - Michael Jordan

I know they spent a lot of $$$ and did about everything they could do to clean it after the flood. The whole stadium was under water, when the water left, you couldnt see the field - there was a solid flat surface of thick dirty river mud.

Has anyone ever thought about taking that turf up and having it steamed cleaned?

Every once in a while I still hear that Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center still wants to expand with more property, and that they would buy the stadium and help put a new state of the art facility up at the Highlands to which would help in a number of ways: Out of the flood plain; easy access off of the interstate; right beside the retail hub of Ohio County/Wheeling, a new amusement park, new hotels, plenty of parking; and help ensure the Super Six will be in Wheeling for years to come. That would great if that is followed through.
Anybody else hear any more on this?

I have head about the possibly relocation to the highlands...
There is a price tag for everything... it will eventually happen, but yet for a couple years. The price and worth of that property will only go UP."Failure gave me Strength... Pain was my Motivation" - Michael Jordan

The Jumbothron is a joke. Steubenvilles is first class in comparison. I understand from some contacts in county government there are some future plans on the books for a stadium at he Highlands and this is perhaps one reason why too much money wasn't spent on a more larger expensive Mombo Jumbo.

Everyone wants BIG RED
They will all be ready for us.
Their goal will be beating BIG RED.
15 weeks is such a short time in our lives.
Take them one week at a time.
Take their best shots....And give'em ours.

I like Wheeling Island seats. Being high up yet close to the field is cool. Big Red stadium has a feel that Wheeling Island just does not have.
They really do need to move that Jumbo to the back of the end zone (right/left). Sitting at the 50 yard line the Jumbo is to hard to see.
