Neal Signs Extension with Penguins

Published by on 19 February Print

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reached a 6 year $30 million contract extension with James Neal.

The deal was announced early Sunday morning before the Penguins played their afternoon game against the Buffalo Sabres.

James Neal, along with Matt Niskanen, was acquired from the Dallas Stars for Alex Goligoski last year.  In 20 regular season games with the Penguins last season, Neal scored 1 goal and tallied 5 assists.  This season, Neal has tallied 30 goals and 26 assists which is exactly the kind of production the Penguins are hoping for in the next six years.
