That said, this game will come down to limiting mistakes. Claymont only played St.C tough because of an INT return on a bad pass and a botched pitch...I don't care if that makes me sound like a homer, it's the truth. It is not a knock on Claymont, they took advantage of what they were given, that is what you are supposed to do. It was still more of mistakes made than forced. Same thing this past week-four fumbles, two lost, and only one was from a hit, the others were bobbles. If the Devils play their game and cut their mistakes they win this game by a aTD, if not they lose by 10. As for saying the only reason a player is recruited is because of money-I get that you pay to go to combines and such, but the bottom line is that the Universities still have to see talent to make a scholarship offer-no parents' cash flow is going to force that. For those of you who wish to be negative on a local kid, that's simply too bad for you. At the end of the day these kids are going to go to school (many to higher quality schools than some of us attended) for free and get to continue their playing careers. Ultimately that is what I wish for any athlete from this valley and shame on anyone who doesn't.
We said! If you know anything about recruiting, the. You already know that these days it is up to you to get your name out there. Recruiters don't have to travel all over to see prospects, they see them online or at showcases. But in the end, the kid has to project to a D-I athlete or they saint get a call. The ferns boys have size, strength, speed, and more importantly project to be line ackers at the D-I level. Do you think Vargas got noticed because of his accomplishments on the field? In that offense? Doubt it! He projects as a solid D-I TE due to his size and athleticism. Instead of trashing the Ferns' on a forum. Maybe you should all be asking them for pointers on how to get your superstars into a college!

Plenty of programs would kill to "only" win seven games but St. C will never be happy with it again. Ferry wouldn't either. P.S. I didn't and would never bash any kid on here.

First, I didn't mean you, so I'm sorry if you thought I did, I did not feel you were bashing anyone from St.C; second I think a seven win season is fine (St.C won 11 games total the four years I was in high school), I also think it's okay to aim higher, so I mostly agree with your above comment.

I think this game will be decided by less than 7 points. I'm going to take Ferry by less than 3 because of home field advantage and line play.

                Hey ST.C. FANS:
Has any OVAC teams ever shut down J. Brown?.........I don't think so.

OMF don't you feel that the losses on the line will effect the Devils ability to run and pass protect against Riders aggressive line play????? I think that one factor may be the key to this game!!!!! Stopping power of both the run and the pass and yes Brown can do some things on his own but just like Allderdice's RB Martin or Linsly's Ocrenoasse(spelling?) I think it's awful hard to make a lot headway with 8-11 guys hitting you on every play!!!!!! I feel that the previous three games have really given great experience to the Riders line as they have had to play large and athletic linemen acrossed the board!!!!

Thank you!!!! This ain't last year and the quick strike Devils offense is no more unless Brown breaks one and that just isn't quite as easy now is it !!!!!!

Yes, I do think Martins Ferry will win the game in the trenches, and I was told St.C cannot throw the ball effectively this year. I think Ferns and Brown will try to run the ball behind a line that isn't as physical as last year, and is far less physical than Martins Ferry. I think St.C will keep the game close with Brown. If he gets the ball with some space he's good for 7-14 points in this one. I do agree if St.C allows Ferry to load the box, Ferry will win this game by a large margin. I haven't seen enough of the QB from St.C to give you an accurate assessment regarding their passing game, but I don't think he will have much time to throw. I see St.C scoring maybe one td through the air and 1-2 tds on the ground. On your final point, yes I think Martins Ferry is better battle tested in regards to playing teams like Allderdice. Allderdice has the athletes to give teams problems and has more raw talent than most teams in the valley. For all these reasons, I like Martins Ferry in a close game, which is why I went 23-21.

I also think st.c has a serious mismatch problem on the TE.

Martins Ferry was once a booming industrial town. The Ohio River city has since fallen on hard times, but football has stood the test of time.

Ok, explain the so-called mismatch...Who has been spiking the fairy water with viagra ? You're right, this isn't last year. The fairies on here blowing the loudest are the ones who decree their schedule has been uber competitive thusfar...they are so much more physical...they are so much more, more, more....I think one thing is for sure, they are more full of crap! Maybe fairyland should put all of the bluster into putting a greater emphasis in the classroom...All of your posturing doesn't do one thing to intimidate the Red Devils!
