You can’t possibly think we had enough softball this week, could you? Well we didn’t. Last night we caught up with Wheeling Central as they prepped for their Saturday’s matchup vs Shadyside. That game will decided who are the 2A champs for the OVAC tournemnet.
Last night however it was the Knights facing off against one of our favorite communities, Barnesville.
Wheeling Central’s pitching and hitting was still hot from their win against Monroe Central earlier in the week during the OVAC tournament. They won that game 8-0. There must be something about those numbers because Wheeling Central had a repeat performance with that same outcome last night against Barnesville.
Yep, Wheeling Central won again 8-0, but this time at the end of the fifth.
Josie Frizzell, who has been absolutely on fire as of late continued her stellar play. On Monday she struck out 14 against Monroe Central from the mound and yesterday she sat down another 8 on strikeouts. Last night however, she decided to a little more at the plate. Frizzell crushed a 3-run homer to end the game in the fifth against Barnesville.
Ashley Baker, Maddie Miehle, Erin Maxwell, and Peyton Smith all contributed a run each for the Knight’s cause. Jocelyn Shaw and Frizzell both added another 2 runs each. Giving Wheeling Central the 8-0 win over Barnesville.
