{"id":11757,"date":"2012-06-02T23:21:46","date_gmt":"2012-06-03T03:21:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ovathletics.com\/home\/?p=11757"},"modified":"2012-06-02T23:21:46","modified_gmt":"2012-06-03T03:21:46","slug":"brewers-solve-bedard-take-game-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ovathletics.com\/home\/brewers-solve-bedard-take-game-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Brewers solve Bedard, take game two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the Pirates big 8-2 win last night, they could clinch their first series win in Milwaukee since April 2010. \u00a0With a 26-25 record, a series win in Milwaukee could be just what the fans of the Pirates could need to put them in the same &#8220;this could be it&#8221; feeling that they had last summer. \u00a0If that series win happens, it will have to happen tomorrow after the Pirates lost game two of the series 5-1.<\/p>\n<p>Off-season acquisition Erik Bedard has been stellar most of the season, but tonight he was unable to silence the Brew-crew. \u00a0In the bottom of the fourth, the score was tied at one each after a Brooks Conrad sacrifice fly and a solo home run by Garrett Jones. \u00a0The Brewers broke the score wide open in the frame after a two-run single by Cody Ransom and a two-run home run by Conrad. \u00a0The Pirates tried to rally in the top of the sixth after back-to-back leadoff singles to start the inning, but were unable to muster any runs.<\/p>\n<p>For Bedard, his record dropped to 3-6 after only pitching 3.2 innings allowing the five runs on five hits. \u00a0The win went to Shaun Marcum to improve his record to 4-3. \u00a0The rubber-match will be played tomorrow between the division rivals as Pirates ace James McDonald (4-2, 2.20 ERA) will take the hill looking to get them on the positive side of .500 again. \u00a0For the Brewers, Michael Fiers (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will oppose. \u00a0First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the Pirates big 8-2 win last night, they could clinch their first series win in Milwaukee since April 2010. \u00a0With a 26-25 record, a series win in Milwaukee could be just what the fans of the Pirates could need to put them in the same &#8220;this could be it&#8221; feeling that they had last [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-11757","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-professional"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.7 -
