They have optioned (C) Tony Sanchez and (LHP) Jeff Locke to AA Altoona to make room for Marlon Byrd and John Buck on the 25-man roster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis move allows us to give Jeff Locke a short break,\u201d said Senior Vice President, General Manager Neal Huntington.\u00a0 \u201cIt also allows Tony Sanchez to get back to the Major Leagues as soon as the rules permit us to do so.\u00a0 In addition, this gives us the opportunity to maintain a full roster until both Jeff and Tony can return to the club on September 3.\u00a0 That is when the Double-A season is over and when the club intends to recall both players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Pirates have also named the PTBNL in the Byrd\/Buck trade with the Mets. Vic Black, who had\u00a063Ks, 21 BB, 2.51 ERA in 46 2\/3 IP at AAA.
