{"id":18074,"date":"2016-02-09T14:31:07","date_gmt":"2016-02-09T19:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ovathletics.com\/home\/?p=18074"},"modified":"2016-02-09T17:41:00","modified_gmt":"2016-02-09T22:41:00","slug":"bonifant-is-mec-player-of-the-week-for-west-liberty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ovathletics.com\/home\/bonifant-is-mec-player-of-the-week-for-west-liberty\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonifant is MEC Player of the Week for West Liberty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. \u2013 West Liberty University All-American Seger Bonifant has been honored as the Mountain East Conference&#8217;s Player of the Week for the second time this season.<br \/>\nA 6-7 senior wing from Berlin, Ohio who is closing in on the 2,000-point career milestone, Bonifant led the No. 6-ranked Hilltoppers to a pair of crucial Mountain East Conference road wins last week.<\/p>\n<p>The veteran sharpshooter came up big on Thursday night, pouring in a game-high 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as West Liberty completed a season sweep of No. 2-ranked Fairmont State by breezing to an 84-77 win before a packed house at Joe Retton Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Bonifant showed his versatility on Saturday afternoon when he handed out a career-high 8 assists while still finding time to put 25 points on the board in a 111-99 victory at Shepherd.<br \/>\nThe leading scorer in the MEC at 24.0 ppg., he hit 17-of-34 shots from the floor during the two games, including a 6-of-10 showing from the 3-point arc. He also knocked down 12-of-15 free throws while grabbing 15 rebounds and distributing 11 assists.<\/p>\n<p>Bonifant and his West Liberty teammates face a stiff test at home on Thursday when they look to avenge an earlier loss to Concord.
