WHEELING, W. Va. \u2013 Tied at eight, the Wheeling Jesuit men’s basketball team scored the next 13 unanswered points and never looked back as it coasted past Urbana, 89-63, Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play.<\/p>\n
After the 13-0 run, the No. 6 Cardinals (16-2\/10-2 MEC) continued their first-half mastery capped by a Preston Boswell deep triple in the final seconds for a dominate 46-21 intermission lead over the Blue Knights (8-10\/3-9 MEC). The WJU advantage was no less than 17 points the entire second half.<\/p>\n
“It was a great team win and I am glad our guys came out ready to play,” stressed Cardinals head coach Danny Sancomb. “We did a great job on the glass and our defensive effort was fantastic. Offensively, we had great movement of the ball as well.”<\/p>\n
Boswell registered his third 20-point outing with a game-best 21 points on 7 of 12 from the floor and 5 of 8 from long range. Moseh was right behind him with a double-double of 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting and 11 rebounds.<\/p>\n
Kyle Ritz and Dominique Tham added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Tham also pulled down nine boards.<\/p>\n
“Preston shot well and made good shot decisions. Pat did great with a double-double and Dom (Tham) was solid off the bench with his 12 points and nine rebounds in 13 minutes. Kyle gave a real ‘workmanlike’ effort and Jordan Fair was very good for us off the bench,” said Sancomb.<\/p>\n
Haywood Highsmith added 12 rebounds, nine defensive, to go with seven points and five assists. Chase Lawson and Jarin Hilson finished with seven and six points. Fair had four points in his eight quality minutes.<\/p>\n
The Cardinals had their way on the glass, 48-32, and held the Blue Knights to 19 of 59 from the floor.<\/p>\n
Dalton Payton led Urbana with 19 points, including four treys.<\/p>\n
