WHEELING — We’re getting deep in the postseason on both sides of the river, and unfortunately that means more of our OVAC teams are seeing their seasons end.<\/p>\n

It happened last weekend for Meadowbrook, Barnesville, River, Wheeling Park, Parkersburg South, Morgantown, Cameron, Clay-Battelle and Trinity.<\/p>\n

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, folks, but that list is going to grow — considerably — this week. Even our big dogs are going to be tested, and in many cases eliminated.<\/p>\n

So let’s get to the picks.<\/p>\n

Ohio<\/strong><\/p>\n

Division III
\n<\/strong>Region 9<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No. 1 Chardon 23, No. 2 Dover 7<\/p>\n

I was wrong about the Tornadoes last week, and wish I was this week. But the Hilltoppers are an absolute machine.<\/p>\n

Division IV
\n<\/strong>Region 15<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No. 1 Bloom Carroll 30, No. 2 St. Clairsville 20<\/p>\n

The best against the best. But the Bulldogs take a bite out of the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

Division VI
\n<\/strong>Region 23<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No. 3 West Jefferson 27, No. 1 Fort Frye 23<\/p>\n

UPSET SPECIAL: The Cadets will give it one helluva run, but the Rough Riders march on. The silver lining for FF fans, is my abysmal record picking upsets.<\/p>\n

Division VII
\n<\/strong>Region 27<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No. 1 Newark Catholic 33, No. 3 Shadyside 17<\/p>\n

This matchup was always out there lurking, and it’s not a good one for the Tigers … or anyone in the OVAC, for that matter.<\/p>\n

West Virginia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Class AAA<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

No. 5 Cabell Midland 27, No. 4 University 10<\/p>\n

The Knights are just more prepared for this kind of battle.<\/p>\n
