Wheeling, WV-On Tuesday evening, the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2011 WVIAC Softball All-Conference selections, and three Lady Cardinals were recognized.<\/p>\n
Senior right fielder, Stacey Spicer earned WVIAC Second Team honors with a team-leading .409 batting average. Spicer started 36-of -41 games and maintained a .452 on base percentage, reaching base on 47 hits, eight walks, and one hit by pitch. The Akron, OH native dished out six doubles and a triple, collecting 11 RBI with a .478 slugging percentage.<\/p>\n
Spicer finished her career with a 10 game hitting streak which included a 5-for-7 showing at the conference tournament.<\/p>\n
Earning WVIAC Honorable Mention accolades were third baseman Shaynna Johnson and starting pitcher Ashley Nichols.<\/p>\n
Johnson, plagued with an injury at the beginning of the season, started 22 games and collected 21 hits with three doubles and a homerun. She plated 10 runs and finished the season with a .304 batting average.<\/p>\n
Nichols appeared in the center of the diamond on 32 occasions with 23 games started. She yielded a 4.24 ERA in 152 innings pitched with 14 complete games. Nichols collected a team-high 113 strikeouts, including 31 strike out victims looking which ranks 4th among the WVIAC.<\/p>\n
