    Fab frosh

    Look out Ohio Valley!

There is a group of freshman going to Wheeling Central, Wheeling Park, John Marshall, and Shadyside which have honed their travel ball skills while members of THE OC.

They won well and often displaying excellent skills and greater determination.

Last year these girls were 55-6 and 135-31 in the last 3 years.

You can check the stats at www.leaguelineup.com/theoc under 14U and 13U teams.

To our beloved 'Baby Blues' good luck and God Speed. We'll be watching...

Jessica Kenney who tranferred to Martins Ferry from Bellaire will be the best freshman in the valley...That is nothing against the other girls because there are some really talented frosh who should see playing time this year.

Jesse is a fine player...1st played against in the 4th grade...this year we played together for a number of games...great girl..good luck! There are many fine frosh players entering their high school careers...I commented on The OC because I watched them play nearly 200 games...they are family...and like family...we are very proud.

anyone who keeps this many stats for 6-7-8 grade girls has too much time on their hands. Dont live your poor athletic career through your kids.

                    KDodd,
It appears that you are jealous! These girls have worked very hard to get the level of play that they compete at and win!

Moderator, I don't know why you scolded kdodd...part of the comment was harsh, but that person is correct. Way too much emphasis is put on YOUNG kids and their sports performances. I agree, there are too many comments on this blog about junior high girls basketball. A lot of kids burn out halfway through high school because of this. I have seen it firsthand. Another thing I have witnessed is the outrageous behavior of many parents at these games. You cannot believe the way parents yell and scream at 12 and 13 year old girls in these parochial league games. And, they are suppose to be Christian too. During one of my daughter's games a few years ago, the opposing coach (a dad, not a real coach), actually yelled out in the middle of the game to his team to stop guarding my daughter, she wasn't that good. I have horror stories about fist fights in catholic school parking lots after games between dads over junior high games. And, I have seen mothers run on the court and yell at refs during the games. It is out of hand. I think that this site should just be talking about kids that are actually playing in high school, not junior high kids, and not "annointing" kids and putting pressure on them before they even play a high school varsity sport.

Back on track, Magnolia has a good freshman or 2, and I believe so does Weirton ( don't know the names)
