Girls: WM vs. WC

Weirton Madonna visits Wheeling Central on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd in the Section 1 semi-final. Here are some thoughts on this game:

With the obvious rivalry between these 2 schools, I think this will be a very close game. WM has been playing very good basketball lately and are playing together as a team with the common goal of winning the game. Alot of girls have been contributing and any one of them can step up at any time. I don't know much about WC as I haven't seem them play this year, but I'm sure they will be ready for this game. At the WM/Hundred game last night, the coaching staff and some players from WC were there scouting. I'm going to pick WM in this one, but by a close margin.

Any other thoughts on this game?

Have you seen Madonna play this year? I think you highly underestimate the Lady Dons. As I said, it will be a close game, but Central will not beat Madonna by 12. Let's just hope the officiating is fair and not too biased for Central as it usually is in Wheeling.

Central hitting it's stride....Knights by 19. Officiating is at it's best. If Knights gets some calls, Knights by 23.

Whatever, obviously you both are Central fans and that's fine, but how about giving Madonna some credit as they are "hitting their stride" as you say. Hopefully, the girls will decide the outcome of the game and not the officials. Good Luck to both teams.

I have watched Central play about 7 or 8 times. They play very hard on defense, they play at least 10 players every game, but they struggle to put points on the board. Creighton has very solid moves and a good jumpshot underneath. Sorge drives well. Central likes to shot a lot of three's. I have not watched Madonna play but just looking at their scores recently they are playing better than the beginning of the year. Central does have some tall girls that they rotate and keep fresh. Just my opinion, if I were handicapping the game I would make Central a 4.5 point favorite with the over/under at77

not trying to offend anyone but i hate how the majority of people are saying that cameron will beat bd. cameron barely beat valley, i just dont get it. I know cameron did beat bd once this year but bd got into some foul trouble. BD will win as long as their is no foul trouble. I hope wm wins against central but it would be a very nice rematch for bd and central because the two games they have played this year could have gone either way. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST GAME.

Especially since the game (if it happens) would be at a gym where the visiting team could have some fans attend the game,unlike last year.

I think that BD will beat Cameron in this game especially since it's at BD. I would also like to see a rematch between WM/BD. We'll have to wait and see on Tuesday who will be playing who.

I also think BD will win because its at Bishop.

BUT, in Cameron defense when they played Valley that was only the third time those girls steped on a court in two weeks and the two times before were a couple short practices.

Im sure the teams still in it (BD, WM, WC) had several practices and even played some games while school was closed in Marshal County.

Central will beat Madonna if Madonna scores less than 40.

It doesen't matter that Cameron beat Valley by one point. Both Cameron-Bishop Donahue games were close, 7 points at BD and 4 at CHS. That is why some people think Cameron can win this game. And a team being in foul trouble is part of the game.

I can only speak for Madonna that during the 2 weeks off, they did practice most days. They did play Beallsville in the OVAC semifinals back on Feb. 8th and they did play Weir last Tuesday for the City Championship. I do agree that the Cameron/BD will be a good game and be close. As I said before, this section is so even this year that anyone can win at any time.

The WC - WM should be a good game, I have seen both teams play this year. Central by six.
As for BD/Cameron....I think home field advantage will be the key. Cameron will have to bring their a game to beat BD.
