yea i guess before long it will be put up or shut up time. i do hope that there aren't any hard feelings over this. i tell you why we look at regular season games a bit differently then you do. we had a local radio talk show host that pointed out one year that with the winner of the bellaire -ferry game would always get a parade through town and a ride on the fire truck, this talk show host then pointed out to both schools that there was far more important games to be played then against each other, as he would put it "there are bigger fish to fry."

No wood fans have predicted a win on here, thats why you have not seen it. Listen bottom line is this Wood felt disrespected by Ferry last year, several on here have admitted, we caught you guys off guard last year which is admitting basically that you were not worried about playing the Wood. Hell before last years game a few mentioned the Wood had no "swag" on this very sight. The Wood came into Ferry with something to prove, and I believe after reading your comments on here a point was proven. It may be that you think we are backwards hat wearing pieces of **** or arrogant or whatever else you wanna call us, but make no mistake the Wood won the game and Ferry knows who the Wood is now. If our actions motivate your team and fanbase then good for you guys thats what sports is all about, finding motivation to achieve a goal.
You want proof that the Wood felt slighted last year and that the Wood respects Ferrys staff and program, this comment is from Wood head coach John Slusser from the coshocton tribune, www.coshoctontribune.com,
"I'm sure we won't catch them by surprise this year," Ridgewood coach John Slusser said. "I'm not sure they respected us last year. We knew who they were, and we were geared up. This year, we expect them to be a handful."

Would you consider saying youre going to go into someone elses stadium and hang 50 being cocky and obnoxious??? By the way that is a rhetorical question....I like it that this "no swag" "cornfield kids" "obnoxious" fanbase and coaching staff has your attention down there on the river. Also, did I really see purplesage say he wanted to meet someone at the gate because of name calling??? wow... By the way I hope our motivational energy source coach TROOPER TAYLOR is in rare form tonight! Win or lose, you will always know who the WOOD is!
By the way, the "cornfield kids" is not something from this forum. I have heard some Ferry players had gotten twitter/facebook information on some of the WOODS players and have been calling them that. Didnt want to be slinging any mud.Last edited by SwiperNoSwipey; 09-07-2012, 09:57 AM.

I have great respect for both programs here and really think this would be a good series to see continued.Being from Shadyside I remember Shadyside playing Ridgewood in 08 and 09. The first game was at Shadyside and it was a great hard fought game. They beat us by 3. Now I don't remember them running on the field afterwards. Now I'm not implying that they didn't, because if that has been their tradition, then I'm sure they did. The point I'm making here is don't worry what happens after a game. What happens during the game is much more important. I remember the 3 point loss, but have no idea how they celebrated afterward and frankly don't care. The following year they smashed us by 20 out there. I never heard 1 of there fans either during or after that game say anything bad about our team. Plain and simple we were outmatched that night but no one rubbed it in. I really wish that series would have continued. Now with that being said I personally don't think it's a good idea to over celebrate a win for the fact that many people remember and it motivates them for the next year. I feel the same about running up a score. I could care less if we lose by 1 or 100. To me a loss is a loss. However again it is motivation for the next year and can come back to bite you. I remember last year when I picked Ridgewood over Ferry and everyone thought I was crazy. Did Ferry take them too lightly? I really don't think so. I just believe that these are 2 great programs. They have both had some success in the playoffs and I think this series would help them to have even more success.

It was justpunt that wanted to meet someone outside the gate. LOL. Sage may be a little over the top sometimes, but I have enjoyed the back and forth with him this week. Also have gotten a few PM's from a few other Ferry fans, and most seem like good people down there. I know the Wood will show them nothing but respect tonight. Looking forward to a good game. Go Wood!!!

The 08 Shadyside, ridgewood game was also won on a last second field goal, just like last year at Ferry. and like every single game, the Ridgewood faithful came out onto the field and it obviously did not offend this shadyside gentleman. I agree with you BHIGGY, the shadyside ridgewood series was a great one. To towns and schools that live and die for HS football.
Win or lose tonight, even though it is at home, the wood faithful will venture out onto the field. try not to get disrespected by it. its not celebrating, its not cocky. its tradition. In the Ursuline game in 2009, we got beat by 48. Everyone still came out onto the field after. Liberty Center loss last season, everyone still came out. its what we do.
As for the game, its going to be a helluva game. two point conversions might be the difference.
On a final note, JUSTPUNT, im not meeting you at the gate to fight. Lets let the boys do that for us. i'm honored that you wanted to "Meet me at the gate" though.
Safe travels ferry.

i don't know why you would be upset at being called "corn field kids" after all you do live out in the country. this could be said about alot of the teams that we have played over the years. one team that comes to mind is bloom-carroll, they sit right in the middle of a corn field. are you ashamed of where you are from? heck we get called the "river rats", purple raiders, fairies, and implied that we are gay because we wear purple. as far as ridgewood being disrespected by the coaching staff, i highly doubt that. they made some bad bellaire teams sound good and dangerous. let me ask you ridgewood fans something, DO you take every opponent you play seriously? do some opponents turn out to be not as good as you expected or better then you thought? when you don't see an opponent all the time , especially a new one you are not quite sure what to expect. they may be faster then you thought, or not as good as you were led to believe after all. all the coaching staff has to go on is what they see in game films and this doesn't show you the true speed of a team. i do think that it will be close game out there.
