Maybe the OHSAA should force St C to send their reserve team out Friday to make it more fair.
"I hope the EL players don't make a habit of jumping over players...#6 tried against Park...didn't work and he was almost made a liberal democrat on the spot..." - Kappy
Ferry has guys hurt? I thought that didn't matter? Brown didn't play for St.C last year and all people from Ferry said after the game was that you have to play with the team you have. I'm sick of hearing how young or injured Ferry is. When Ferry is winning no one else has guys hurt or plays younger guys. The worst part about Friday will be Mclean has to much class to put 100 on them.
Gee McLoven I guess we are going to feel really bad that we are playing without all our major players and the youngin's won't be able to compete!!! I feel especially bad that your having to miss the 100 point win you are desperately in need of!!!!! And lastly we are sorry we aren't the team that will give you any kind of satisfaction in beating !!!! So so sorry buddy!!!! I'm ready to watch some more chest pounding from you guys
I gained a ton of respect for McLean after reading this article. I worked with the gentleman that died, it was such a shock. He was only 44 years old. I'm sure he was smiling down from heaven when his son scored!

Whats so funny?St.C missed Brown last year more than ferry missed Ober**** and the other kid (can't remember his name)I wish the Neavin boy got to play because he is a great kid and doesn't deserve what happened to him, I wish the Strama kid and the McGee kid didn't get hurt either. You want to play a team at full strength so there are no excuses but it doesn't always work out that way. MF will be just fine and I know they will put a team out there that will give 100% I think in the last 4 years MF has beat St.C because those senior classes have not had much success from 7th grade on in any sport. This years Jr and Sr. class has not lost to MF's jr and sr class in any sport (except football the last 2 years)that they were the main focus of the team. I don't think the indimidation factor is there like in years past. JMO. The funny thing is everybody gets on here and takes this stuff so serious and act like these kids hate each other but off the field many of them are friends and hang out with each other. I am a HS sports fan and used to get worked up when people posted negative things and reponded in a not so mature way but try not to post as much as I used to. Let the kids play, let the coaches coach and go watch the games and enjoy it, 4 years ago I thought I had forever to watch my kid play and now its his Jr year. It goes fast and honestly 20 years from now nobody will rememberwhat the score was from the St.C MF game except the players and some parents and these kids will probably be friends just as I am withe guys from MF, Bellaire, UL and other schools that I played against. I look forward to seeing some of those guys when we play them almost as much as the game itself. Good Luck to both teams Friday but I hope the Devils win.

Nicely said. Presumably, we are all adults on this forum, and we need to stick together as a Valley. High school is just one part of the lives we have led, and competing against other kids in the Valley was an important part of that (and more than 30 years ago). For me, I wish that I had gotten to know the other schools' kids from Bridgeport, St.Johns, Bellaire, Ferry, etc, but I moved away for college and never came back except to visit my folks. I live many thousands of miles away, but I have come to enjoy 'watching' Valley sports from afar. Thanks to the internet, WTOV and WTRF highlights, Times-Leader, Intelligencer online, maxpreps, joeeitel, and THIS FORUM, I can be close again. Lots of guys who went to HS with me have kids playing sports in the Valley, and there are many names of kids on other squads (Vargo at Ferry, for instance) who I know are the sons of the former kids who I competed against. This forum too frequently degrades into name-calling and drumming up incidental circumstances to try to insult the other posters. I say, let's support the kids and quit the petty infantile squabbles. We should all support whoever from the Valley makes it to the playoffs and hope they go deep. We have a lot of pride in our Valley, so sticking together should be easy.
Truth is I can't gain any respect for him and I've tried !! His demeaner is such that you either like him or ya dont and I'm in the latter group!!!! I don't feel I need to defend my opinion on this open forum!!! As far as exclamation points you just dont understand and it's a long story so just look at them as periods with a lot of thought !!!!
That's sad man...at one point I respected you as a poster, but you have lost that this season. You guys slap 56 Shenandoah and you have the audacity to trash our coach for hanging a high number on Bellaire in what was a game until the first play after halftime? To quote Zack Ryder, "Are you Serious Bro?!?" Our coach is one of the stand-up guys in this valley...he is a family man, a good man. His staff is full of class acts. He has brought a sense of pride to the hilltop that hasn't been seen, I don't know, since maybe 1990? And his success is at a level unseen here. You don't have to defend your opinion, you are right about that, but understand that all you do whenever you say stuff like that is look like a fool. You ask for integrity or whatever on this thread this week, then rip our coach. I guarantee if you guys hadn't lost in the last few weeks your tune would be different. The Red Devils will prepare for this game the same as if Ferry was 8-0 and I hope they lay the wood the same as they have to everyone else this season. As long as we come out healthy and victorious I don't care if we score 14 or 44.
Goodnight Canada!
Leave the gun...take the canoli.
If you're out on your bike tonight, do wear white.
Dont know where to start here. We've been waiting for this date!
Just a note for all the Ferry fans who are making the trip, you may want to get in on the 50/50 for the game sponsored by the Red Devil Club. Last week's winner took home $1066, and was a Buckeye Local Fan to boot. I know that the goal for this Martins Ferry game is $1500 after the split. The folks selling the tickets have been doing an awesome job getting around to everybody, so just keep an eye out.
It would be a great thing to walk out of Red Devil Stadium with a Mortgage payment plus change in your pocket!
Ferry will have to play a perfect game to win. Have to play keep away and when they do pass stop with the roll outs. Trying to make a pocket passer into a roll out QB is not working. Reminds me of when Ferry had Jamal Murray at QB. When he sat in pocket he was good, but over and over they rolled him out. Besides when you roll out a QB you take away 1/2 of the field.
