Bigbob, I agree with your assessment of Big Red. Big Red has a swagger that few schools have. But when it comes to Ignatius its a completely different animal. Just too big with too much depth. Their linemen, plural, regularly go D1. It's a numbers thing.

I'm assuming the 9-game schedule as reported before is still correct and Buchtel is now a Week 3 home game? After last years' game, I was wondering if they'd be back on the docket. But, I guess they came around.

Trying to get some info on Central High. Is it the inner city Detroit school (second oldest secondary school in Michigan) or the Grand Rapids school?

I read somewhere (don't know) that it was Catholic Central (aka Novi, MI) that we're playing. The old Detroit Central HS is now Central Collegiate Academy, which I don't believe we're playing as it said Central HS.

Can anyone put them in order for me? I am in the process of making plans to come home to see some games. I would like to know what my options are.

I'm a little surprised that Buchtel still had an open date this late in the season, but I am delighted that we will be playing them. It should be a good game.

This is why many kids who live anywhere around the Steubenville area like to play for the Big Red . You are put on a stage like no other unless you end up a D-1 recruit and play in the Big Ten,or WVU. I love it . Looks like Barberton and Ursulin will be nice away games along with our WV rivals.

I thought you said that they come to Big Red for the academics. Don't tell me that football is that important to people in the Ohio Valley that they'd change school districts or move entire families across state lines.

I did say kids come to our school for acedemics . Very true ,and I know some come to play ball as well . Very true on both counts . Some come for both . Some come for special needs and some come because they are gifted . All true. I just want as many kids to come to our school system as possible no matter what its for . If a family moves into a district because of the school system thats nothing new . Actually its very common and smart . Its a basic American right to choose where you want your kids to be educated . This is not China . Not yet anyway .

I beg to differ. The reason it would not be fair is the size of the schools. It would be the same outcome like the Ursuline/Pitts. Central Catholic game at Wheeling Island a few years back. Big Red would likely get a few on Iggy, but the "manpower" of Iggy being able to run a completely different offensive unit and Defensive unit also able to sub both parties with fresh talent would take its toll on the Red. It would be the same against any team our size in D3. Just too many talented bodies to rotate in and out for Iggy.

BTW, I am not trying to stir the pot, but I did hear a rumor that a couple teams you list on your schedule are not going to play Big Red for "reasons" this year... I am guessing no truth to that?
