I agree with those who say a packed 20k seat staidum would sound much better acoustically than running out into a 80% empty Ohio Stadium. Crowd noise is half the thrill!

That's because none of them actually got to do it. Trust me you are all very wrong. It doesn't seem empty when you play in Ohio stadium. it's so so so far much better but don't take my word for it.

Crappy place for a high school game. Been there, done that.

Me too and I love the place. massillon is no joy and neither is Canton. There is a reason the WPIAL plays their games at Heinz field. When you get the bigger schools to play in the shoe it more seems like 40 or 50 K in the stands. It is not empty like some people want to say. The kids get into the game anyway. You can have back to back games in the shoe with no problem ,and people can get to see two great games back to back . Columbus is a great place to spend the night and the Ohio state practice facilities are another added thrill for the kids to do . I have got to see this as a player and a fan and I vote for Ohio stadium every single time.

Move the title games around is the best way and the most fair way. Toledo one year , Dayton and Cinci area one year Columbus one year, Youngstown stambaugh stadium one year ,Canton, massillon one year.

we have the same scenario down here, they play up in jerrys world for the semi's and finals, for some teams this could mean a 8 hr or more drive maybe two weekends in a row, plus that huge stadium fitting 20k- 30 k per game, we have petitioned the governing body to move these games to a central arena, but money talks and bull sh@t walks. the stadium it self is a great venue but the cost of a motel gas food tickets, that could eat 6-7 benji's real quick

why does the wpial play their games at heinz field? why are you so worried about where the state championship game is, you have to get there first. didn't big red win one of their state titles at the shoe? the above poster is right, it is a thrill of a lifetime for most of those kids to say that they played a game at the shoe. columbus is the state capitol after all and centrally located so that is basically 2-3 hours away for most of the teams. if you don't make it , then you don't have to worry about it. why does texas high schools play their championship games at Texas stadium?

Columbus is a great place to have the title games. You can stay at all kinds of great hotels. See the sights ,the Columbus zoo or a hockey game or an Ohio state athletic event. Playing on ohio stadium turf is a dream. I love it going back to that old Columbus town.

That place was like sitting on a ice cube ! Remember some cold playoff games there.

The Rubber bowl was a freezing place.

Jerry Jones is why, they used to play them at u of texas in Waco, a centered arena as in driving time for most schools and fans. Jerry had to throw something out to the governing body to attract them there, like I said money talks.

Moving the title games was ridiculous. Seriously, I understand the implications of playing at THE Ohio State University (Every time I hear someone say that, it makes me want to puke), but seriously Paul Brown Stadium has history and in Canton you are playing in the shadow of the Hall of Fame in a place the NFL is willing to play a preseason game. In all honesty, travel from one side of the state to the other is about 4-4 1/2 hours tops-I drive from St.C to Bowling Green almost monthly and it's not a bad trip at all..I know Columbus takes it down to about 2 hours, but seriously it's not that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Seeing St.C play for the title against Massey in Canton was a great experience...I would have went to Columbus, but I can't help but think that the atmosphere will be sterile, even with the bigger schools. It's no better than WVa trying to get the Super Six out of Wheeling every few years and was a very poor choice.

I rather play in a place that Woody Hayes roamed the sidelines along with all the other greats of Ohio state. I don't like Massillon anyway . I rather play on Wheeling Island.
