    OVAC titles in football

How is Steubenville eligible for the OVAC title with only one OVAC opponent in Morgantown and Buckeye Trail has only one opponent in the OVAC as well (Barnesville) but the Warriors are ineligible for their Class's title? Columbiana Crestview has two OVAC opponents (Indian Creek and Magnolia) and are also ineligible. Dumb move for Trail to move to the IVC.....and why doesn't Crestview try to schedule more OVAC teams if they are so interested in being in the OVAC? They could schedule Oak Glen, Beaver, EL, Edison, Madonna, Wellsville, Toronto, and, if they are willing to travel to New Martinsville, why not play Shadyside, Bellaire, WCC, Bridgeport, etc......

I love following the OVAC rankings and their playoffs for the title in all other sports. I support the OVAC.

The LAST thing Steubenville is concerned about is a meaningless OVAC title. If your goal at the beginning of the year is to win the Buckeye 8 (woohoo) and your division of the OVAC (double woohoo) then your team has set very low goals for itself.

"Low goals" are all subjective. Doesn't seem like logical practice for anyone in the Buckeye 8 to set goals higher than winning the division, right?

Steubenville is eligible. Guessing they attempted to schedule OVAC games and it didn't work so out, so they were granted a waiver. Trail is an entirely new conference and couldn't schedule anymore teams. And don't think for a minute teams, coaches, players, fans don't want to win everything possible. Even if it's OVAC, Buckeye 8, PVC, etc.

Until there is mandatory scheduling within each class how can you have a football champion? Years ago Team A (10-0) beat Team B (9-1) by a score of 62-3. Guess which team won the OVAC football championship.

OVAC titles are good for wrestling, golf..more individual sports. Many times, just not a good representation otherwise because teams don't participate.

To be fair to Crestview, they joined last winter and still have to finish contracts before they can overhaul the schedules, which their AD stated he was hoping to accomplish in 2 years. I expect they will be playing some Belmont county teams soon at least with them being OVAC AAA. Trail, I don't understand their move; first leave the PVC, now join the IVC. Did better with just an OVAC schedule.

Steuby should not be eligible for football since they have 1 conference team on the schedule, that is typical no matter what conference they are in...that said, I don't think they care much just like Reno always turns down the allstar game.
