I have been out to Mercer County to witness MAC football first hand. I am a big Bellaire supporter, but in my honest opinion, no team from the valley outside of Steubenville could give MSML a game. They are on a different level. Also, the game with Steubenville would be close. I would give Big Red the edge, but not by much. These MAC teams arent afraid to schedule up. If i remember correctly MSML played and beat D3 Dayton Chaminade Julienne 2 years ago. Also, Coldwater plays D4 Kenton to open up the season each year. Coldwater put over 50 pts on them this year. Coldwater also defeated D4 defending state runner up Clinton Massie in week 2. Much respect for the MAC

I have been out that way also, and agree with everything you said.I would just like to see a valley team play them before the playoffs. It don't have to be MSML any MAC school would do.Play the game on a saturday and the place would be packed..If not a MAC school maybe Kirtland or Mecanicsburg,I have seen both of them play, great programs.

Don't think Kirtland and Marion Local have to play each other twice; they already are scheduled for week 15 every year.

Coldwater and Marion Local are both Div VI Region 24
Coldwater took down Marion Local last Fri night spoiling
          perfect season for ML.

Div VI state champion will come out of either Region 21(Kirtland) or Region 24 (Marion Local or Coldwater.)
with St. Henry being the possible surprise spoiler for the entire party.

The MAC is the premier small school conference in the state that have won multiple state championships in both girls & boys sports over the years, however IMO people overestimate their ability to play up with the BIG DOGS in higher divisions. Marion Local beat Cuyahoga Heights 21-17 in the state finals in 2016, and that same Dayton Chaminade team they beat in the regular season also lost to Division 4 Alter 51-3, Division 4 Fenwick(6-4) 26-10, and Division 2 Miamisburg 53-7.

I was at the Shadyside & Marion Local game in 2006,and believe Shadyside would have beaten ML straight up, but those gusting winds made it impossible for Shadyside to use its passing game. I still remember that punt that the wind blew backwards.

I was at that game as well. ML was clearly the better team, wind or no wind. JMO.

Marion just beat a pretty decent Spencerville team to night 55-7. I assure u if coldwater/marion meet shady side it will be just like another dsj beating them 77-6.

I disagree about the overestimating their scheduling of DOGS in higher divisions. Again, if you want to play the “this team beat that team scenario”, Coldwater beat Kenton 52-27 this season. Kenton beat Wapakoneta for their only loss. Wapak beat Trotwood-Madison last night. Trotwood beat defending state runner up in D2 Cincy Winton Woods. Winton Woods has wins of D1 Elder and D1 Moeller. I know this is ridiculous. Im just using your argument going the other way. Coldwater also beat Massie for their only loss. Massie beat Hartley and could go back to the state semis or finals. Again, this is a good debate. i just believe that MAC schools wont back down from anyone. Im more of a Coldwater follower than MSML anyway. I loved when they beat Youngstown Cardinal Mooney in the state finals and have been a fan of their program ever since. Mooney had around 11 D1 players that year. Coldwater has scheduled a home and home with Cincinnati Mount Healthy for 2019-2020. They are D3 and just lost to Region 12 number one seed Kettering Alter in the playoffs last night 14-12.

Yes, Bellaire will get killed. They should do it anyway. You don't get better by ducking quality opponents.

What stinks for the MAC is that they have 3 of the top D6 teams in the state and only 1 will get out of the region. St Henry vs Coldwater is a state championship game matchup, but will meet in the second round this upcoming weekend. Winner gets MSML most likely.
