(2-3) Taylor Allderdice vs (5-2) Big Red

Allderdice coming in after a win on Monday night . Hopefully they show up Friday, literally.

Big Red off a tough loss should be able to rebound and win out these last 3 games and at least get 1 home game before starting the region 9 gauntlet of good teams they all will face on the road now if they win week 11.

I’d like to here from the BR front runners on OV Athletics , who are now quiet, after 2 defeats of how to get rolling and continue on into the playoffs. Turnovers was definitely an issue against DeSales but curious of what else needs to happen. I’m still somewhat optimistic week 14 is attainable, but still have things to clean up. For me week 14 and beyond has some luck to it as well, namely injuries and matchups.

Everyone on here is down and out but still at least 1 month left and hopefully longer. What you got??

71M, a lot of people overlook the "matchups" aspect, not speculating who the best team in this region is, but the best team does not always win, and matching up with certain teams is a huge reason why....enjoy the journey. Hope it's a long one for you..

They just need to get as healthy as possible the next 3 weeks and not turn the ball over. They were almost full strength against desales but still banged up and turnovers didn’t help.

I didn’t realize how much better we were statistically than DeSsles last week. Except for the most important stats…. Turnovers and final score. I think The Big Red can play with anyone in D3 if we can stop turning the ball over. A pick 6 and 1 I think returned to our own 3 gave them 14 points. I can’t even guess how many points directly were attributed to the other 4. Also, I can’t remember if turnovers affected the Dover game. Seems to me we can fix things pretty quickly if the turnovers stop, even with being so deep in the depth chart with injuries.

We need someone to take leadership of this team. They are just as talented as anyone else in the region. Clean up the penalties and turnover. Play physical and we'll be in good shape.

Desalles had had 211 yards rushing BR had 196, CD had 68 yards passing BR 142..total yards 338 to 279....59 more total yards is not that big of a disparity. Of course CD had almost 100 yards on 2 of those carries, probably why it seemed like they did not have that many rushing yards, after I read your post, I went back and looked at the stats, and I was surprised that they had 211....

Desales had 47 offensive snaps, 24 were 0-3 yards. They only had 9 1st downs
but the TO’s and 2 big runs really took the game away from BR.

After 7 weeks Special Teams is a thorn in the side for them. In the 2 biggest games my best guess is starting field position was +20 for Dover and DeSales
just on kickoffs. You can’t pooch kick it to the 40 every time while your opponent is putting you at the 25 or less. It matters especially having run first mentality.

Agreed, the 2 runs really skewed the number... That was my point..I hate being the guy who says, "You take away those 2 TD runs"..... but the fact is the Defense was dominate....

Fact of the matter is, Big Red is not as good as everyone thought. Injuries, turnovers, bad officiating, blah, blah , blah. Same old same old. Big Red is the greatest and no one else comes close. Now De Sales is going to be in the regional finals. What a joke. This is the prime reason so many people despise the big red. Aurora, Chardon, Dover, Canfield, St. Vincent St. Mary’s, are all better than big red. There may be a few more than that in Region 9. I would say reality will hit you in the face, but I know that will never happen.

the fact is Big Red has WON 18 REGIONAL TITLES. Add to that that have also won 9 semi-final games. You can count the list of teams that have accomplished that on less than 2 hands, maybe one hand. Based on that Big Red fans expect to win regions and CONTEND FOR TITLES EVERY YEAR. So when our fans get a little ahead of ourselves it’s because we have high expectations. So love it or hate it…. that’s who we are.

You are not wrong Doc, BR has earned the right to these lofty expectations, but sometimes you have to let reality overcome expectations. Truth is this is not the same BR team that we saw in the first 3 weeks, and other than what has happened in the past years, BR has shown nothing in the past 3 weeks that would justify expecting to compete for the regional title. Even with that said, I would not be shocked if they did!!

I don’t disagree with you brother. Think about it though, once the bar is set so high, tempering expectations is impossible….. there has to be a sustained streak of not reaching that bar. It was only 4 seasons ago the finished a streak of 3 straight championship game appearances. Takes a long time to forget that success. Besides, forget the fans, those expectations are just part of coaching and playing in that program.
