    Steubenville Big Red 2024

    So far with the schedule.
    H Cincy Archbishop McNicholas
    A New Philadelphia
    A Cardinal Mooney
A Dover (thought this game was H this year)
    A Wheeling Park
    N Linsly ( I think it’s still a neutral site)

open weeks I think are 4 and 8-10
On offense I am curious to see if the sophomore Haney will start. Running game and o line should be very good. WR I am not sure what we’ve got there
On defense it should be good once again.
anyone else have any thoughts or heard anything on the open dates.

Probably going to D3 once the new competitive balance count happens this spring. BR was the 2nd largest D4 school last year about 13 over the original number set a few years ago.

Interesting year for sure. Need to replace a bunch of guys, a lot of whom who lettered 3 years.

The QB from Weirton moved back to Weirton after football season.

Haney (Frosh) and Cole Bowers (soph) are very good. However football sucks the life out of basketball. Our football players only had two (2) weeks of practice before their first game. You need at least four (4) to six (6) weeks of practice to condition yourself properly for basketball. Cole Bowers suffered a season ending injury in the first quarter of the first game because of a lack of conditioning.

Huh??? Driving to the basket 2 mins into the game hardly has anything to do with conditioning.

Just a freak incident, as are most knee injuries.

Bowers is in shape year round from all the running and cutting soccer has during a game…. Sheesh.

It’s always funny to hear that football is the reason for an average basketball teams in Steubenville…. That never seems to bother the Dovers, IVs and many others in the state that have good football and basketball with the same athletes.

Lol agree 100%. Big Red just doesn't take basketball seriously and it shows.

There is a difference between football conditioning and basketball conditioning.

Historically Dover and IV do not make playoff runs similar to Big Red. Their football players who play basketball are in the gym weeks earlier than Big Red football/basketball players.

How about soccer conditioning?? Literally run for miles while cutting endlessly. About like hoops without dribbling.

Ok how about Kettering Alter?? Currently sitting 7-1 played an extra week of football after beating BR. Usually great in both, yearly.

How many Alter basketball players just play basketball and did not play football? If football players are playing basketball how many start or contribute? Alter is known as a basketball school. Paxton brothers.

Be interesting to know. If 3 or 4 of Alter's basketball players who played football are major contributors then you have made your point.

Haney, Adams, and Wiggins weren't major contributors in football. The other 2 starters only played 1 side of the ball. Basketball just isn't a priority at Big Red.
