    WTOV9's High School Super Site

Sounds like WTOV9 is really putting forth the effort this year for HS football. After looking at the list of "games of the week" I was pretty impressed with most of the math-ups. Looks like they really looked to pick out some great match-ups. I just visited the WTOV9 sports site and its down for construction. I saw on the news Don Sloan said he will have over 7 hours of video on the site... Thats pretty huge. Here is a list of some of the things they are promoting this year:

    -Coaches Corner
    -Players to watch
    -Extended Coaches and Players interviews
    -Team and School information
    -Schedules
    -Pre Season Big 22 players
-Pre Season Blocks of Granite players
    -G.O.T.W. schedule and more...

Site slated to be up and ready July 30th.

    Bravo WTOV9

I've e-mailed McCoy and Sloan in the past to let them know just how well done their site is. But I don't see anything new on the list SOS. Would like to see a schedule of podcasts games. Or how about a podcast program schedule involving games from past yrs. They have RetroTV how about Retro games either aired on Sat or on podcast. Would love to see the big red/hoover (comeback) game again.

I bet they could look over their vault of game films and put together a good schedule in the off season to get us prepared for the season.

I know they have really dedicated themselves this year... over 7 hours of interviews and video is impressive for any news site that covers HS football. But you are correct, this IS the Ohio Valley and we demand more than most. I contacted WTOV9 a while back to see if I could get a hold of some football games from the mid-late 90's... They told me it would cost $96 a game to have them converted from their film they used to use to VHS or DVD...

I agree with you, RTV9 should have a weekend flashback for the G.O.T.W. It would probably draw more viewers than the 6 o'clock news itself. As far as podcasts go, I'm sure thats in the works...

They do an exceptional job already... But they have the chance to be the station/website that sets the standard for everyone else...

I will say that I'm happy they are making the effort. I share the same vision... promote our youth in the Ohio Valley!

I will say this... believe it if you want... but during the football season, I've had both news 7 and news 9 contact me through this site (news 7 is registered as "sports7") about scores and stats during the high school football season.

I'm not trying to put anybody out of business or necessarily go head to head with anybody... but I do take pride in being one of your #1 stops when you get on the internet.

The news stations are lucky that my finances are limited, because I already have the audience that they want, I just dont have the finances to do all the things that I wish I could do, IE, podcasts, live game feeds, etc...

If they were smart, they would sponsor you... You run a tight ship as well as a good one... Partnership would go a long way.

Honestly, The Valley does an incredible job with it's high school football coverage compared to alot of places that I've been to/lived in. This includes individual, fan maintained sites like rollredroll.com, the Ferry fan site (I can't think of the name), etc.

It seems Ferry has terminated www.goriders.com? I was looking for it a while back and it is no longer there. I don't know of any others besides www.rollredroll.com and www.redskinschop.com

A "retro" game of the week on RTV9 is a great idea. I nominate last year's Madonna v. Wheeling Central game as the first flashback. I can't remember the final score.......
