Wheeling Central 2011 Football Schedule

The competition at the single "A" level in WV is basically at the Junior High Level. It has been like this for a while now (maybe 10 to 12 years). Consolidation has caused it.

without a doubt, ohio has some major powers that would beat wcc regularly......if steubenville was in wv they would have probably won the last 15 or more state AA titles....however, there are alot of local ohio teams that want to hang their hat on "we are from ohio". another poster mentioned shadyside...you have to give them props, but lets look at their last two teams that went to the ohio title game....wcc beat them three seasons back and this year dropped the winning touchdown pass while playing without their starting runningback and linebacker. my point is that wcc can play with successful ohio small schools. but also lets point out the big bad over rated buckeye 8...can't remember the last time a buckeye 8 school beat wcc (possibly harrison central when walker played) if recent memory serves me correctly.... beat gust and barbina at ul...trounced st c in the ovac jamboree...two consecutive over ferry...a drubbing of bellaire ...by the way these are all much larger schools. i will be the first to admit ohio sports are superior, but just because your school is in ohio does not make your program better.

You are right Bison, these eastern Ohio teams hang their hats on teams from Delphos and Youngstown.

The Eastern side of the state of Ohio is the weakest ...all you have to do is look at the number of state titles won in all the sports compared to the other areas.

Take out Steubenville (Big Red and Central) and the only one I can think of with a state title is Toronto in baseball.

you say that we hang our hats on the teams from youngstown , well if central was over here they would be in the same region as ursuline, so to get out of the region you would have to beat them. beating ferry, bellaire, shadyside is not getting you ready to play the teams in other parts of the state of ohio. other then ferry, bellaire, and big red, how many youngstown area teams has central played? if you think that playing ursuline and mooney are so easy to play, why don't you schedule them. i remember listening to you central fans whinning about how the freindship edison team beat up your players, well just imagine having to play 3 teams in a row like that to win a state title. when they have the rally in the valley maybe central could get matched up with ursuline and see how they do. here is ferry's path to the state title a few years ago, if they would have made it that far. to get out of the region they would have played big red, then cardinal mooney , and then kettering alter. now who did central have to play to get to the state title game ah bishop donahue and wierton madonna, so who had the tougher path.

sunshine chickie...you need to go back to my previous post..read it and comprehend it..i say that ohio sports are superior and i also say that there are ohio powers that wcc could not beat.....my point is don't hate on the knights because they win, nowhere in my post do i say that wcc would win a state title in ohio...your envy is clouding your comprehension of my post.....as for ferry, it doen't matter who they would have to play in the ohio playoffs.....they should worry about beating little 'ol wheeling central

oh please! me being jealous of wheeling central. get over yourself. why do you think that central does not get the reconigtion for winning state titles like other teams do. my point i was trying to make is that central is the wva equialavent of what mooney and ursuline are over here. to all the other single A schools they are top dog.so if they want to win a state title in any sport they have to get by central to do it. as has been shown the last 2 years, the best teams madonna and bishop donahue have can not beat central unless central is having a bad day, yes i know the madonna beat central last year for the state title, but more often then not they do not. the biggest thing isn't when central wins a state title is when they don't. don't you remember a few years ago when central won a state title in something and they was hardly anything said about it? the other point i was trying to make is that central is almost double the size of these schools and almost always has the better athletes. how would you feel about ferry winnning a state title when all they had to do was beat st johns and cononton valley to get there, would you be excited over this. don't you put ferry down now because you say their schedule is soft.

this comparison is not even close....wcc has 240 kids, this years playoff run went as follows....they beat pendleton co (246), bishop (121), matewan (168), wahama (202)...now ferry has 393 students and cononton valley has 139 and sjc has 90, less than 25% of ferry enrollment.......also i have never said ferry schedule was soft...i have said that it is a shame that they drop wcc instead of continue the series in weeks 1, 2, or 3.....afterall, wcc has about 150 less kids.....going by your enrollment theory, this should be a easy w for ferry......i have been on record as saying the buckeye 8 has been highly over-rated

i think that the reason central was dropped was because of the shift of all the non-conference games to weeks 1-3. did central have an open date for any of those dates. do they even start the season at the same time. maybe ferry didn't want to play a class a school since i believe shennendoah is division 5, heath i believe is d3, i'm not sure about ridgewood, i think that they may be a d5. anyway from what it sounds like you got alot of the locals playing you. what is the big deal about playing ferry anyway. it might just be me, but it sounds to me like you people are obsessed with playing ferry. i just wonder why?

why are they any different then any other school? or is it because you can throw it in ferry's face that they beat them with their own players. like last year's quarterback. beating ferry only counts for so many points, so what makes the difference if you get the points from ferry or someone else. so you make a big deal out of beating ferry's "average teams." if you wanted to play ferry so bad, why didn't you play them when they were loaded? now that you have had a few good years, you want to play them, where were you back a few years ago when they were really good. i didn't see central on the schedule then? it seems like you only want to play them when central is up and ferry is down from where they were.
