Is it possible for this group to hack the Steubenville Police Dept. files and find out exactly what they have on the case?

Anonymous isn't like an official group or anything. Anyone who can hack (which is obviously a rare and valuable skill) can call themselves part of Anonymous. Some will be more formidable than others. I'm just hoping the particular individuals who decided to partake in this case can hit SHS where it hurts and dig some dirt on those involved because there needs to be a change of culture and that means getting rid of people that would protect students involved in a rape ring, if that's what's happening.

But the fact that the site is up now, the fact that it was up again for a few moments last night because of a mistake the hackers made initially, and the fact that they are throwing out anyone's name who they saw is not a good sign for justice.

For instance I saw a young man last night posting to ANON on twitter for hours that his name was mentioned in the events of last night because in August he retweeted something that John Linn posted about the August night. But he said he merely retweeted a post bc he assumed it was about a girl who was drunk and hooking up with a bunch of guys at a party and had no idea it was actually a rape in progress. Eventually, Anon cleared his name after he could prove he was in another part of the state that night.

That's the problem with this. This groups mentions anyone who retweeted a retweeted tweet (did you follow that?) and now people are looking at an innocent kid and his family like criminals. That's unfair and in the end might be the only thing that comes of this.

I hope something substantial happens but I'm not holding my breath.

None of this would be permissible in court, as mentioned. This is precisely the reason that they are leveraging the people to come out on their own. If I were anywhere near this thing I would consider freezing my assets and getting my social security # flagged in every database. The reality is, depending on how good and how motivated this particular hacker is, none of that will matter. Take all of your cash, retirement, 401k ... whatever, and buy gold with it. Fake your death so your social is off the books and move in to one of the abandoned mills... lol.

It was a catch 22 to be honest.

If they don't investigate this, and if the news doesn't report this - we would be talking about how clueless and blind they are.

When they do investigate and report it - WE do what we're doing now.
