Michael Irvin played with a passion which many players don't have. He was a player who became hungrier and hungrier as the game, season, or career went on. Steeler fans don't give many cowboy players credit but if you would rather have hines ward, there is something wrong with you.

At least Hines Ward is a complete player. You sure can't say Irvin can block are you?Because thats just plain false.Very few WR can block or are willing to block as well as Hines. He also catches anything he gets his hands on and has never been known to drop passes. And plays hurt.Maybe his numbers are not as high as some others out there but as a complete player very few rank up there with him....Oh yeah Super Bowl XL MVP.Certainly not Irvin.

I'll say Hines is hardnosed and will block for his teammates. He's not a bonecrushing blocker, he just gets people good when they aren't looking. He didn't dominate the super bowl either, he scored on a reverse pass. I would take Santonio before Hines. Hines is a good fit for the steelers offense; however, irvin was fast, big, and athletic.

Hines is a true team player. Selfless and just wants to win.

even though i hate irvin, i don't think that should matter whether or not he gets put in the hall of fame; i might be wrong but isnt O.J. in the hall? he killed someone "alledgedly" and now he's goin to jail for another crime

He had over 125yrds of offense.Better then anybody else that day!

I'm going to clear this up... Michael Irvin was the receiving threat of arguably the best "big 3". He doesn't have numbers like jerry rice because he played with the leading rusher of all time, so obviously they weren't in a pass heavy offense. He would've had a longer career if philly didn't retire him. 32 teams in the league would love to have a player like him nowadays, and the cowboys would have him back in a heartbeat.

Hines is an average player. There are plenty of average players who were super bowl mvps: eli manning, phil simms, dexter jackson, deion branch just to name a few. Yes, he's a good blocker but he plays in a run heavy offense. He has catches the ball here and there. Look at the tangibles and michael irvin is hands down a better receiver than hines. It's called physical ability, and irvin has more of it.

physical ability and natural talent --- irvin
the heart and soul of his team --- hines ward
