Michael Irvin played with a passion which many players don't have. He was a player who became hungrier and hungrier as the game, season, or career went on. Steeler fans don't give many cowboy players credit but if you would rather have hines ward, there is something wrong with you.

He didn't dominate the super bowl either, he scored on a reverse pass. I would take Santonio before Hines. Hines is a good fit for the steelers offense; however, irvin was fast, big, and athletic."I hope the EL players don't make a habit of jumping over players...#6 tried against Park...didn't work and he was almost made a liberal democrat on the spot..." - Kappy

I'm going to clear this up... Michael Irvin was the receiving threat of arguably the best "big 3". He doesn't have numbers like jerry rice because he played with the leading rusher of all time, so obviously they weren't in a pass heavy offense. He would've had a longer career if philly didn't retire him. 32 teams in the league would love to have a player like him nowadays, and the cowboys would have him back in a heartbeat.
Hines is an average player. There are plenty of average players who were super bowl mvps: eli manning, phil simms, dexter jackson, deion branch just to name a few. Yes, he's a good blocker but he plays in a run heavy offense. He has catches the ball here and there. Look at the tangibles and michael irvin is hands down a better receiver than hines. It's called physical ability, and irvin has more of it.
