Ohio State recieves a 1 year bowl Ban

The ncaa has spoken they give ohio a 1 year bowl ban which means they can't compete for a Big Ten championship or a national championship, the loss of 9 scholarships over three years. Also another year was added onto the probabtion period to make it three years total

very surprised. First team to ever get a bowl ban from a failure to monitor charge. NCAA's inconsistency at its finest. Oh, well...you can only hold us down for so long. Go Bucks!

Oh yea, and lets take back all of these self-imposed bans if they don't mean anything to the NCAA.

Ohio fans thought a Bowl Ban was impossible... No competing for a NC next year and the schedule was easy next year with 8 home games all together includes Nebraska and Michigan. This is the ad's fault imo for not imposing a bowl ban this year and I think most of your fans would agree. How many of those schools who got hit with FMC were repeat offenders with the NCAA? The self imposed stuff is up to the school and then the Ncaa decides if more things need to be added or accept what the school has already proposed. The school doesn't plan to appeal so that tells me they are ok with the sanctions they recieved.

OK, self-impose a one year bowl ban, N-O-W, in 2011-2012!... Who needs a grabage win/loss against an equally mediocre Florida Team? Other than the 9 scholarships lost over the next three years and being under the watchful eye of the NCAA through 2013, the damage will have been remedied and the new coaching staff and the long list of stellar recruits he is bringing in will not be punished for the crimes of 7 athletes and a head coach who are no longer a part of the program or the university. The NCAA gave no consideration to any of OSU's self-imposed penalties, so why would they mind if the program just shut down for the Holidays, sent the staff and players home for the Holidays, and said screw the Jan. 2nd affair in the Gator Bowl?... Oh yeah, *MONEY*!... The NCAA, the SEC and the Big Ten, along with the institutions competing have *MONEY* on their minds... The NCAA is inconsistent in the investigations of programs and conferences, and is looking only at the bottom line: *MONEY*, period.

Meyer better have a good "zero tolerance" policy in place, for I would hate to see what the NCAA would do if the Buckeyes are hauled before them again while they are on probation for the next three years.

How can you self impose a Bowl Ban this year once the Ncaa has made a final ruling? haha That doesn't even make sense.... The Bowl ban that just sucks for the older players on the team really. But the guys who come in next year who don't redshirt are just burning a whole year of there eligibility that they won't be able to compete for a Nc like most of you clowns said they would, before the Bowl Ban came down today. How do you know the NCAA never gave consideration to self imposed sanctions? The ruling took about 4 months. The Ncaa is all about the MONEY I agree with that, But you guys weren't complaing when all the guys who got in trouble were able to play in the Sugar Bowl last year. This ruling was fare imo and it wasn't too harsh honestly..

Missed point. The NCAA drug it's proverbial butt when acting upon their 'final sanctions.' Had they acted a month ago and told OSU no bowl game this year, the sentence would have been served in another week and a half. And, yes, the Buckeyes could very easily have self-imposed a bowl ban, along with the other penalties, prior to this season. Finally, last year, this investigation had barely begun in December without any evidentiary findings. My point is give Coach Meyer and the Team a fresh start, rather than an albotross hanging around their necks, for the whole season next year, much like the one Buckeye Nation just suffered through? We'll be back... We can live without the scholarships and face the music regarding the probabtion through 2013.

The Ncaa never drew this out at all... They went in front of the Ncaa August 12th, then some more stuff came out a little way into the season then about a month ago is when ohio submitted there self imposed sanctions correct? Ohio didn't play there bowl game last year until January so they could of been suspended and you know it. There schedule would of set them up pretty good next year they would of really been in contention to win big 10 ship next year. The scholarships will have some effect all it means is that you won't be able to miss evaluate talent.

Go on ESPN's website and follow the chronology of the NCAA's investigation... Read the document. It started a lot earlier than August 12, 2011. They drug this out.

Your right the investigation took place before August 12th, but on August 12th is when the actual hearing in front of the committee for everything took place. And generally after those hearings take place it does take a couple months afterwards to hear the results. I know this was the case when Michigan was in trouble with the ncaa it took a few months to get the results.

I guess November 24th, 2012 will be dubbed the Probation Bowl now.
