7 frosh girls at Wheeling Park were asked to practice with the JV/Varsity in upcoming practices...all 7 had something in common...all 7 either played for THE OC or for Marshall County.
Good luck girls...Good luck Park...
A couple other frosh will join basketball upon completion of their pursuit of a state championship in volleyball...also good luck...see you when you come home with hardware...
I heard all Central frosh were played on frosh team and they have a limited number of games...my question what happens after they play their six games?

Just curious, how many of the 7 are from parochial schools?
I don't think this is really a debatable issue but the biggest reason that some female freshman are standing out at some local high schools is travel basketball. I think the parochial league definitely gets a head start on the public school kids but that advantage seems to be negated by the end of eighth grade. The girls that play more than just the 10-15 games for their middle schools are the ones that stand out when they get to high school. Since there are no playground or pick-up games really for the younger girls, travel basketball is the only outlet to get better at the sport.

As my daughter was a member of the Marshall County team for a couple years, I agree with the travel team philosophy. There are a few girls that were on that team that I believe will make an immediate impact on their high school teams. Without naming names, the young lady going to Bridgeport will most definitely be a major player as a freshman, along with the young lady going to Union Local. The young lady going to Tyler Co. should also see some varsity action as a freshman. There are 3 going to Park that hopefully don't get caught in a numbers game. Their improvement has been enormous. Central is the recipient of a couple of these young ladies that will surely have an impact on their team. And finally, the other two young ladies, both of which are at BD, should also have an impact in the future of their team. Let's just hope that there is a future at BD.
