At least four players from the Young Buckeyes are currently Juniors at St.C. (LeCron and Stewart) and Ferry (Edwards and Coleman). Not that they would have stayed and gone to BL, but being a part of that youth program must have taught them some fundamentals. Coach Bubba Coleman, God Rest His Soul, took great pride in teaching!..

You know this might sound crazy, but give former board member/alumni Chuck Haggerty a chance. Between him and Jason Merryman, those are the only two names that come up. Haggerty has been an assistant coach at West Liberty for x amount of years and maybe it's time he gets a chance to prove how it's done. Inserting a young, inexperienced head coach would be throwing a lamb to slaughter. As much as we would like to think this is the way to go, we all know, including people from outside your district that there is no way in hell this would succeed.

I think you need a young guy in there who is willing to shake things up, but there cannot be interference from outside sources. Whoever takes this job needs a clause where there is to be no contact or ultimatums from parents or school board members...they need to be allowed to play the players that they want to play and put in whatever system they want. If parents are upset that little Johnny isn't playing, then take little Johnny to Big Red and see how that works...this school is big enough by enrollment that there has to be enough good athletes there to make a competitive team...there just needs to be a coach who actually is allowed to take charge and not have administrators and parents in the way.
        Goodnight Canada!
        Leave the gun...take the canoli.

I heard the Young Buckeyes switched leagues this year also. I heard the league was very small(possibly like 4 teams) and the teams played each other twice in the regular season. If I remember correctly, Scio and Cadiz had teams. I cannot remember the other one.

Speaking I heard that some of the top middle school players have transfer to neighboring school districts.

Yes crazy. Time for a change not to rehash bad memories.

I look for St John's to get a few as well.

I think I'd rather transfer to St. C. or Ferry where a kid could play on the artificial turf with solid coaching staffs.

And even with those 4 they still got hammered by the Marshall County Panthers.

                        They should call Jim Hoover.

Hoover would be a fool to leave Martins Ferry for Buckeye.

From what I'm being told he'll NEVER get the Ferry job.

Greg Bahen would be a perfect choice for this position. No Nonsense, very disciplined, very fair, and experienced. As for a teaching position, lift the rule that says you have to be a teacher in the district. This hampers you more than you know? Greg works as a Teacher in a Alternative School in Steubenville. Give him complete control and watch it turn around. This Guy is well respected. The kids will play for him and the numbers will come out.

Who were probably 16 and driving a '1948 Ford pick-up... I doubt anyone on Marshall County would be able to beat either Ferry or StC, now.
