.....OVAC ALL STAR ROSTER.....
...I haven't paid much attention to this game for some years. After reading about who got in and who didn't....Someone please explain the selection process. Does each OVAC head coach nominate players from his team ? If so,where does it go from there ?

Anyone think the problem may be that the OVAC has a million schools in the conference? It's an impossible task for any coach to pick a fair group of kids when he has to look at schools that may be an hour and a half away from him.
With that being said, Burney should have been chosen without question.

And why not, WV wins by 30. Five guys from Steubenville aren't enough when WV's line is all made of these kids, especially when Ohio's line has Trail and Liverpool kids on the line who don't know how to win games at all. Remember when Ohio always had the best players and coaches and won 9 straight and 12-13? Well George Kellas is getting his wish of WV balancing the equation. But he would be horrified at how.
Playoff teams last year had better rosters; did you watch football? Zero excuse, if you watch the game film, of Bellaire not having Burney (his catches were fantastic, ask Harrison and UL what they think of him and why they both missed the playoffs, this man's acrobatic catches!) Burney was incredibly fast, smart, and had great hands whether offense or with pick-6s, which he had a few. Outside of BR, he was hands down one of the best players in the valley. If you watched him all year, you'd know that without being a jerk Bellaire hater. Barnesville had to get SOMEONE in this game!!! Plain insulting! Worst part of this whole thing! UL went 7-3 and got nothing, Harrison gets screwed too. I am fine with the kid from Meadowbrook getting in (wasn't the last one from there in 2006?, so this is a big deal for a team who literally had 4 winning seasons in 60 years). Cambridge plain stuck. Liverpool was a farce as usual. I'm surprised Southern didn't get one considering this stupidity.
When was the last time the coach took none of his own players?, especially from a school nearly always skipped.
I have no problem with Steubenville getting theirs. The best team should, and they were. Next should have been real talent. The kid from Buckeye Local I even agree with a bit because I have seen him play; he's maybe the only kid worth the honor and dignity at that school if you have watched that team behave on and off the field. Buckeye Trail and Cambridge kids were not better than ALL of the kids from Barnesville and Union Local or Harrison. And those schools had a lot of talented seniors, their rosters are diminished this year from it. The Rocks won a week 11 road game with those seniors!!
With idiot rosters like this, no wonder the game attendance has dropped off a cliff in the last decade. In 2006 this game still had 10,000+, and the last few years they are lucky to get 3-4000?! With more big schools in the conference now too. I'm happy WV has taken some of these games recently, because I remember the fear that the OVAC would change format and ruin the game. Turns out they destroyed it with fool coaches from losing schools. I hope WV wins in an enormous blowout. This game was once the glory of all-star games. It use to be a great honor to get in this game and win it. No star ever skipped it, they dominated it (Joey Galloway, Chad Brinker, Tim Spencer, Quincy Wilson) and people showed up to see it! Now, if you were the 2nd string at 0-10 Frontier, you might have a shot if the coach is the wrong man for the job.
If you wonder if this conference is doing well for this game, if you think this roster is fair and good, and the coaches a fine thing, then ask yourself this: why was this game the event-of-the-year for so long, and now is the game no one will watch or play in? The OVAC has failed everyone. I mourn it. I wish we had a game which you'd never consider missing. One where you'd fight the traffic on the island to see.
One thing is certain. Ferry will have plenty of parking left once this game starts. It will be the least-packed game played there all year.
And to any new brat on here who thinks they know so much to talk down people like Mark Joseph, that man has more cred in the valley than you could ever image. So when someone like him or one of the others here says something, people listen to his experienced opinion on the OVAC stuff; they aren't buying your bull. And Jello-man was at these games as were many others. Stop your trump-like crap. Get a clue or go back to pretending what you're doing in Guernsey county is tackle football.

Let's face it, for 90%+ of this board views the game as the "Buckeye 8 All Star Game" and anyone West of exit 208 is an after thought.
I heard that Justus tried to take three or four kids from Fort Frye - and for good reason - Fort would have easily handled anyone in the Buckeye 8 this year by two scores. Look what they did to Barnesville in the playoffs.
Casey Lewis (from Fort) ran for nearly 2,000 yards and 40 touchdowns, but yet, the "so called" experts stated that other than the Big Red kids, everyone else is a "joke".
The list of Ohio players in the backfield listed in the Times Leader today is a solid group of kids, but since there are no St. C, Ferry, Bellaire kids, but most of you idiots are treating it like the biggest injustice since the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor.

Bellaire 20

Fort Frye 7
Ya still think so?
And Steubenville is not in Belmont County and should not be mentioned in the same sentence with the others."The older I get, the better I was."

When you start comparing scores like that, you have to look at Bellaire losing to Shadyside, in a very much one sides affair, and Shadyside barley beating Meadowbrook. According to scores Shadyside was a touchdown better than meadowbrook, and Meadowbrook lost to Buckeye Trail also. Fort Frye went on to destroy Buckeye Trail. So when you get caught up in score checking it makes Bellaire not look so good. However Bellaire would have been a middle of the pack team in the PVC and would not have competed well in the Ecol.

You are off your rocker. Again, I amazed at how much credit Bellaire is getting for going 6-4 and losing a first round home playoff game. You lost to River, St Clairsville and Shadyside. It is not even close on Bellaire and Fort Frye but you never have seen the Fort play so you will view everything through your Big Reds Glasses. Bellaire was like the 3rd best team in Belmont County (behind Barnesville and Shadyside and probably St C) but we are supposed to believe that they would have destroyed Fort Frye when Fort Frye hammered your best team. Again that river water must be good stuff!!

Hearing something is brewing with three players on the WV squad not being allowed to attend a legion baseball game. Rine, Giovengo and Murray. Tom Ratiaziak is telling them they are not allowed to leave Bethany College with parents to play in area Legion Championship game. What a shame on the OVAC, They continue to make horrible decisions based on ancient rules. It is 2017 don't you want kids playing as many sports as possible.

Mason played st.c and shadyside game injured the green wave destroyed the fort wasent even close. So come on now get out of here with that if it wasent for a missed extra point or a dropped pass on fourth down.bellaire would hv been playing cuyahoga heights. And there is no shame in losing to a 10-0 river team.that 10-0 team barely snuck past bellaire.
