No since in debating it Kapono. Everything is viewed with red and black glasses. It wasn't close. Fort Frye would have beat Bellaire and that is exactly why Fort played in week 13 and Bellaire didn't. Fort would have taken care of River as well. Last year's Fort Frye team was one of the better teams in PVC history.

Hearing something is brewing with three players on the WV squad not being allowed to attend a legion baseball game. Rine, Giovengo and Murray. Tom Ratiaziak is telling them they are not allowed to leave Bethany College with parents to play in area Legion Championship game. What a shame on the OVAC, They continue to make horrible decisions based on ancient rules. It is 2017 don't you want kids playing as many sports as possible.

So an ice cream social and pep rally, where all they (OVAC members) do is pat each other on the back both nights is more important than a legion qualifying game. They ARE NOT missing any practices.Originally posted by purpleryderbooster View Postdid the boys know about no missing practice or events ahead of time before they said they would play? i would think they knew about the rule.

As for the situation surrounding the three players who are playing for Post 1, has this type of situation ever presented itself before? If so, how was it handled? It's hard to believe that this is the first time this conflict has occured given the number of years that both Legion ball and the all star game have been in existence. And what about athletes from other Legion Post teams? Are they affected too?

The all-star game is usually a week later and then it runs into the WV legion state baseball tournament which would require missing numerous practices. Most players opt to play in the state championship tournament if they go that far. I have been to both activities and they are a waste of time for the coaches and players, they are important for the band, cheerleaders, and Queen of Queens contestant. It is actually amusing how many times the same individuals thank each other and compliment themselves are the great job they do.Originally posted by wvunc_hoops View PostAs for the situation surrounding the three players who are playing for Post 1, has this type of situation ever presented itself before? They are NOT missing a practice!!!!Originally posted by wvunc_hoops View PostPlaying devil's advocate, if the OVAC granted an exception for these three athletes to play baseball, does that open the door for future abuse of absences? If you are the OVAC, where, when and how do you draw the line?

Yeah, this is affecting Ohio kids too. But, the dates for the district legion tournaments were posted before the OVAC invites went out and probably before players were selected for legion teams. It's a tough choice, but the kids have to make that choice. I have heard that in past years players were granted permission to leave. I also heard that HS coaches are asked not to nominate players that also play legion baseball because this is a conflict most years.Originally posted by WheelingCentral View PostHearing something is brewing with three players on the WV squad not being allowed to attend a legion baseball game. Since the OVAC dates are usually 5 years out, then those dates will always be posted before Legion baseball, especially since Legion baseball is dwindling on a yearly basis, it seems. The OVAC game already is not getting the best players for a variety of reasons, seems it is time to really have a discussion about this (and how they pick the coaches) to help this game as much as possible. Kids will pick Legion over the OVAC game (like some will do this year), and visa-versa -- so help them out.

Legion ball is a joke anyway. I know of no one who goes to these games. Maybe they were afraid of them getting involved in the legion keggers after the game. lolOriginally posted by cas8043 View PostSo an ice cream social and pep rally, where all they (OVAC members) do is pat each other on the back both nights is more important than a legion qualifying game.
