According to another post. Ferry's schedule next year right now it looks like this:
    1@ Shadyside
    2@ Hannibal River
    3
    4
    5
    6(H) Brownsville (PA)
    7(H) Buckeye Local
    8@ Cambridge
    9(H) Rootstown
    10@ Bellaire

Weeks 3-4-5 will be filled with a combination of Harrison, Barnesville, Union Local. They really do need to drop Brownsville. They get more out of playing Bridgeport.

We might start scheduling D7 schools to get this poor buddy more than one win a year

so you are saying that berne union is just as good as buckeye? buckeye isnt a big school now either. they are D5.

i think that the rebuild is officially over when they start going above .500 for several years in a row. not 9-1 every year but like 8-2 7-3 while playing some of the better teams in the area.
37 Juniors and Seniors and still playing D7 Shadyside, D7 River, Brownsville, D6 Rootstown, D4 Cambridge on a 21 game losing streak, and adding the 95th ranked team in D5 in Buckeye Local.

For comparison, and I’m using Fantastic 50 because I am nowhere near smart enough to create my own statewide standings, Buckeye (625) is very similar to Shadyside (624), and Cambridge (627). I guess you can say it’s an improvement over (668) Berne, but still in the bottom quarter of the state. That is at least 6 games that Ferry couldn’t lose playing their JV team. Add Harrison and Bellaire and that’s 8 games against teams ranked 500 or lower, with Rootstown being the highest ranked at 509.

Union Local is a great matchup, and Barnesville will be also after this season, but at least 7 wins are scheduled next year, not including Bellaire.

I get rebuilding. What coach Kropka has done is fantastic, taking a pretty much dead program to this point. Like I stated my issue is when does it end, and when does real competition begin? Even going back to his Harrison days, if you look back, many of his successful seasons included lopsided losses when facing good competition, but the record always was good due to playing teams below their level.

And please do not take this as a slight in any way to Ferry, I am critical of the schedule StC plays also, among others.

oh i agree they should not be playing river or shadyside. if they can they should get out of playing brownsville. you also play cambridge too. i look for them to come off when ferry goes to a full B8 schedule in 2026. ferry quit playing river along time ago because river could not compete with them back then. with shadyside going through a rebuilding cycle they should drop them too.

st. c and barnesville are 2 schools that are wasting all these talented teams and having nothing to show for it. because after these good classes are gone they will look back and see what a wasted opportunity they threw away just to go 10-0. the one mistake i see that st c made on their schedule , was dropping indian valley. if they had played in the regular season, they would of found out where they stand with them and what areas they needed to work on with plenty of time to correct it before they meet in the playoffs .

i think that kropka is really surprised at how fast this team came along. i look for them to fall back a little bit next year.

Indian Valley wasn’t dropped, it was a one year contract. I had hoped that game would become a constant, but for whatever reason that did not happen. I can’t claim to know the inner workings of scheduling at StC.

While StC didn’t play the toughest schedule, even comparing it to Barnesville is laughable. Other than Union Local (Maybe), name someone on their schedule better than East Liverpool, Norwayne, Indian Creek, or even your Riders. I would actually include Beaver Local in that group as well even not making the playoffs. Also, outside of Steubenville, name me a valley school who consistently plays Wheeling Park, 3x the size of StC, who is back in the schedule next season.

I greatly enjoy the constant talk of StC is going to drop off after this class or that class. It has been the same story since 2018, or even before then. If anyone really thought that were true, Harrison, Ferry, and Union Local wouldn’t be dropping them now as ā€œall the good classes are goneā€, and Ferry and Union Local having all this success at lower levels.

To be fair…. Barnesville and UL are taking younger kids out of StC.

                                That is happening.

UL 8th grade team was fantastic this season. Program should only continue to improve.
