To be fair…. Barnesville and UL are taking younger kids out of StC.

UL 8th grade team was fantastic this season. Program should only continue to improve.

I did hear of places, UL included, taking kids from StC. I don’t follow the jr high level enough to know who or why, but wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a factor in the lack of a future schedule between the two. I simply don’t understand why someone would choose to leave StC for Union Local. Maybe to play earlier since most players don’t make it on the field on Friday nights at StC until their junior year, or disagreements about position, honestly no idea. I just see it like a Steubenville kid transferring to Indian Creek… yeah they might play sooner or the position of their choosing, but personally I’d rather win consistently.

I might just be old but I feel like this all stems from college football and the transfer portal and NIL. Unhappy or not playing? Just transfer. Think you are worth more? Transfer.

If it’s about more film for recruiting, first off let’s be honest with ourselves, the valley has VERY few D1 caliber players, and of those even less are D1 power conference recruits. Secondly, film of a player as a freshman and sophomore will likely hurt the athlete more if they are playing when they really aren’t ready, or playing against very lackluster talent. Finally, coaches will watching winning teams and find kids far before teams that are not winning. For example, the Creek and StC game had coaches from Wheeling U, West Lib, Walsh, and a plethora of DIII schools. I’m guessing when Union Local played Shenandoah, Buckeye Local, Harrison, Bellaire, and Southern not many coaches were attending their games.

The last matchup was fun I was there

I remember JM jumping to a quick 14-0 lead and I was thinking we bit off more than we could chew. All of a sudden it was 14-14. I thought we really had the game won when we scored that last TD before OT. That kicker had a leg.

Bull **** they going to say ferrys schedule wasn't tough enough for the playoffs

To be perfectly honest, this argument could be made for most of the teams in the Valley, including St. Clairsville and Barnesville. Just look at some of the teams their first round opponents have played during the season. St. C should win their first round game, but Barnesville will have a tough go for a #14 seed.
