    '96 Bridgeport

Just an off topic question. I was watching the 1996 Bridgeport Highlight tape the other day and me and my brother were wondering how many yards Widmor ran for that year. If anyone knows, feel free to chime in.

I think he was somewhere close to 2,000. That team was unreal.

It was over 2000...like 2400...he scored 37 or 38 tds and he averaged close to if not more than 9ypc.....and we didn't play the 4th quarter in 6 of the games....also Bodor had over 1000...Widmor had 1950ish his junior year too, and would have gotten 2000, but got hurt against Madonna in week 10 and missed the 2nd half...

What was his total yards? Wasn't it like 4,200 or something like that. Chris Smelley has to be close to it.

Not sure on career, but he started his Soph year too, although we threw the ball more that year, before Goody got there...in the paper it said like 4200???

I think Chris Smelley is under 100 away from the record.

Bridgeport has some nice players returning in Dalto and Co.Smelley and Dallas Fields will be a stud...they may not go 10-0 next year, but I wouldn't count them out of the playoffs...

There are a lot of young guns coming back to play next year including Dalto, Cole, Dallas and even Thomas Flowers who stepped up last week when GP went down. There have been many who stepped up this year and I would expect that to continue in the coming seasons. Bridgeport's 8th grade has some nice talent coming up as well. They finished 7-1 on the season defeating Martins Ferry, Union Local and Shadyside (who had a 6"2 qb), just to name a few.

And for the future? ...no one can predict... but a winning tradition has been started at ole Bridgeport High and as the saying goes... success breeds success.

Wasn't that around the last year DB scheduled any games against Bridgeport?

I still to this day say that if the 96 team got past Dola Hardin, they would of played for the state title.
