This is getting intense. The fact that ppl are already coming forward means they know they did wrong and they are in trouble.

Either of the two charged could still do the right thing. Stand up, say exactly what happened, take no deals, and take the punishment your given. An apology doesn't mean squat when you're still just looking out for yourself.
I agree 100%. The perfect outcome is that the young girl who was assaulted can get closure or at least an apology for what happened. On the other side of things, nothing that has come out whether it be from the accused, the witnesses, the media (who acted very poorly until the website was hacked) the NY times article, or the anonymous broadcast that hasn't already been spread clear across the valley and known before it has been reported. With that said, the SCS school board put this in the hands of one person to deal with who simply replied "get out of my face or you or someone close to you will get it." Way to go SCS. I guess there is a line you draw... if a kid in the choir were to rape a young girl it would be on your hands, but when it comes to your football team, there is only one answer correct? IMO SCS looks worse in this deal because they didn't step in. Now you have a young man admitting guilt... Obviously you knew about it, we ALL did. So why was this player allowed to participate this year? I know you left it in the hands of one person, but like I said, WE ALL knew, so did you, so did that person. Why did you not step in? Maybe it would have helped this young girl believe that good people do the right thing and help this situation... I forgot though, it was out of your hands and the football team won games while the stands were divided, yet still bought the tickets... It is all about the wins and the money.

You can debate it all anyone wants... The fact of the matter is SOMETHING happened, some people know more than others, especially those who were there... SCS did nothing about it, PERIOD. They followed the media once this came out, acted like they had no idea, but at the same time admitted they knew about it, yet place it in the hands of one person who violently erupted and then SCS came to the realization that maybe that wasn't the best solution. Stick your hand in the cookie jar one to many times and you will get caught...

            I have such mixed feelings.

I want to touch on something coachb said earlier. He mentioned that the many of the people on this site don't care about the victim, they care more about tarnishing the program, and are using the victim as a reason/excuse to do that.

I've been thinking about that since you've said that. You're are right in the fact that people on here are talking a LOT about the school, program, coach, etc. We are in a sports forum, and that conversation is pretty relevant.

Are there some people who are jealous of the program, and want to use this as a reason to blemish it? Sure there are... But I think that most people want to see EVERYONE with knowledge of this go down. Being that this happened during football season, I think it's very appropriate that we are talking about what kind of role or knowledge that the staff and other players had.

If this happened during track season, with track runners - I would understand your argument that people are being ridiculous, however those aren't the circumstances. The fact of the matter is, this happened during football season, with a party that started at a football coaches house. I think it's very appropriate for the program to be questioned and debate on this site.

With that said, Anonymous posted this confession from a girl via twitter. This pisses me off with such sadness.

              Here's my story ;;

Some of the boys accused were Freshman at Big Red and some accused were in my class at Harding.
I started texting (insert name here) who is a senior football player at Big Red.

After texting for a while, he asked me for a picture. Without thinking I sent him a nude picture.
Within the next week, everyone from Big Red/ Harding had the picture on their phones. I asked him multiple times to please delete the picture and he swore to me he did..

I hung out with him and a few big red boys that following summer at a graduates apartment in Steubenville.
When I got there, they showed me that they all still had the picture and proceeded to make fun of me.
(Name of one boy affiliated) told me to go into the bedroom with him where he began to touch me sexually. Being as scared as I was and not knowing what to do, I let him. We had sex..

Afterward I walked back into the living room asking for them to just take me home..
They told me no. They proceeded to tell me to go into the bedroom with another student, (name of boy who sent out the picture).. not knowing what was going to happen, I did..

We got into the bedroom and I began to tell him how scared I was and how I just wanted to go home..
He began to try to talk me into sleeping with him saying, "Just do it.. No one will know.. I promise."
He began to touch me. I told him to stop but he continued and I let him..
As he crawled on top of me, both of us now naked, the people that were in the living room busted into the bedroom, turned on the light and started screaming. One of them had their phone out. (I don't know if any pictures were taken)

Disgusted, I jumped up, threw my clothes on and demanded to be taken home.
One boy stood up and volunteered to take me home. When we got in the car he told me if I didn't flash him, he wasn't taking me home. I screamed in a rude manner to just take me home and he began to drive me home.

I was harassed for the almost two years after the events of that year transpired. Almost to a point of suicide.
They started rumors about me saying they trained me. Which had definitely not happened..
I never told my story because I was afraid of the criticism I would receive.

It's not a rape case but I believe that these boys would do what they're being accused of.. Considering the boys involved with me had no problem doing what they did..

You are the best thing to happen around here. Get justice for scared victims like us.

              Thank You. Merry Christmas,
              Anonymous.

                Rep!
However, I'm quite sure that someone will say it wasn't "during" football season (even though two-a-days were in full session). So, since it wasn't "actually" during football season, and school was not in session, the coaches were under no obligation to inquire what may or may not have happened allegedly (at that time) involving their players.
                Just wait ... it's coming.
As Coachb would say, that's "default argument number 1"

Que up the "victim blaming" cries, though that's absolutely not what I'm doing. In fact, I believe the exact opposite, personally. To be clear, throughout my single days, in college, etc. I refused to have sex with a girl if she'd been drinking bc I felt like a girl should be of the right frame of mind when deciding who to have intercourse with. But, here's what I want to say: why are these ladies hanging around with creeps who are sending her naked pictures to all of their friends. And then, sure he deleted those pics and none of his friends have them any longer, Smh.

Why is the desire there to hang around this guy and his friends who are passing around your nude photos against your will? What kind of people are they and what redeeming qualities do they have?

It's my opinion that some people want so much to be in with the cool crowd that they'll hang out with obvious scum, just because theyre on the football team or whatever it happens to be. It's strange. That kind of culture didn't really exist in my high school. Hopefully this opens some eyes around here. If guys are treating women like they are in the above story, it's wise to stay away from them. They obviously have no respect for girls and we see where that leads with the some of the popular boys at SHS.

I think you hit the nail on the head. High School can be a difficult time for some kids as they are trying to figure out who they are. Having a popular social status is important for kid. Heck, it's important for adults, as most people want to be liked and acknowledged (thus the reason Facebook is so popular), the difference is that kids are willing to go to more extreme measures to reach that social presence.

Message to all the kids reading this; just because a girl has sex with your friend, doesn't mean that you're allowed to have sex with her too.

I havent seen it yet ,but what did you expect? Naturally it was about covering butt. Question what is required for him to be left alone ? Was that good enough .? Did he meet the demands ? I see alot of you are happy about the long overdue apology but now he will not be targeted by these vigilanties . I think most of us wanted to see that happen just saying . I wonder why he didnt do sooner . I would like to see some from Nodidamus and a few others . I think if those pathetic punks did an apology sooner they could have saved themselves and alot of innocent people including coach alot of hardships . What a bunch of selfish self centered cowards. It took these vigilantees to bring about this apology and Im waiting for more even though we all know how sincere they will be .

I believe this topic was covered a LONG time ago... When the School did nothing, the staff did nothing, people looked to the parents and students around those involved to step up and make the decision to stop these individuals from playing or sit their own kids in a protest. It is a very sad situation that starts at the top turning a blind eye and filtered down to what Patriot called "the cool crowd." I just don't get what the "cool crowd" thought was so cool then to just let this go, because the "cool crowd" keeps looking worse as time goes by. I wonder if they finally realize there was nothing "cool" about it.

Not speaking to any allegations or whatever they claim about him, I have no idea about that but to say you don't know any of the players on the team? Not a four year senior? Not the QB? Not an outstanding team leader, you've never gotten to know any of them? GTFO.
