BETHANY, W.Va. – Indian Creek High School senior Megan Beebe (Irondale, Ohio) will continue her academic and athletic careers at Bethany College, beginning in the fall of 2011.
Beebe will join a Bison volleyball team that finished 24-13 last fall, the second-most wins in school history, and also captured the ECAC South Region Tournament championship in the program’s first-ever postseason appearance.
On the court, Beebe was a four-year letterwinner and three-time All-OVAC selection for head coach Crystal Hammack at Indian Creek. She was selected as the OVAC Class AAAA Player of the Year as a senior after registering 246 kills and a single-season school record 110 blocks. It was one of four school records Beebe set during her career, which included kills in a match (26), blocks in a match (11) and blocks in a career (180).
Beebe was also a First Team All-District 5 selection and earned the 106.3 The River Athlete of the Week once during her senior season.
In the classroom, Beebe was the National Honor Society Vice President, earned the Academic Letter for three years, was a two-year OVAC Varsity Leadership Board member, recipient of the Silver Key and President of PE 4 Life.
“Megan will bring experience and athleticism to our front row this fall,” said Bethany head coach Courtney Kline. “Megan is versatile in the front row, as I look for her to contribute at the middle blocker and right side positions. She puts up a solid block and makes good contact on the ball, which will add to both our offensive and defensive efforts this season. Megan has experienced a successful high school and club volleyball career, and I look for her to continue her success in her time at Bethany. I am looking forward to working with Megan this fall.”
Megan, who plans to major in pre-physical therapy at Bethany, is the daughter of Mary Beth Beebe of Irondale and Mark Beebe of Wintersville.
