The Marshall County program also has several freshmen playing varsity this year:
    Haley Robb - Wheeling Park
    Emily Bucon - Wheeling Central
Selena Ghaphery , Allie Bauer - Bishop Donahue
Jess Kinney - Martins Ferry or Bellaire

Congrats to all the freshmen from both programs!! Hard work does pay off!!

I saw Shadyside play Monroe Central last week, #22 played a real nice game scoring 17, the other freshman that played was #30 (there was no 33 on the team in this game)she played some hard D but fouled out trying to guard MC's best player.

I'm not sure why we are referring to these girls by number, but I guess I'll continue the trend....#22 is a very good shooter who hit some big buckets in this very close game, she also spent some time trying to guard MC's Alex Kuhn.
The battle is always the fiercest just before the victory.

OC Freshman are making us proud playing nice roles on their varisty teams! Trio at Shadyside will help make Shadyside tough to beat for years (K. Bonar, H. Holenka, and K. Fijakowski). Bonar and Holenka are making great contributions as Freshman!!

              E. Puskarich at Park has already shown that she will be tough to deal with for the next four years. She has stepped up and made nice contributions to Park as a Freshman!

              C. McCormick is a nice addition to W. Central. She has great instincts around the basketball.

Both O.C. Freshman at J.M. are making early contributions to J.M. K. Howard will make an early impact and will only get more aggresive as she grows into the high school game. K. Lewicki is fast and has great BB instincts. J.M. is set up well for the future and will be very tough this year with the mix of veteran and young players.

Nice job to all in the early part of the 2009/10 season. Keep up the great efforts! The Pipeline of the younger O.C. players will be ready to help out next year.

give me a break with the OC updates. Start your own H.S. if you want them to play together.

Kdodd - Just stating what is happening. Sorry you feel this way. This thread is about freshman making an impact. Can't help it that these freshman are doing well. I am sure that they will continue to play well and we will continue to hear about these players as well as others from other programs.

I agree with bbfan. This thread is about freshman and everyone has every right to post good comments about those they know about. I have read thru the past posts and many players have been highlighted as good freshman, not just the oc kids. If someone wants to praise a girl who is doing well, playing team ball, make a post about them, that's all bbfan did. cc

                      Let it Be !!!

KDudd - This thread was started because I felt these girls would make an early impact. Why? Because I've been watching them since the 3rd grade...I watched our older group play-up into high school travel tournaments last spring and go 23-1...they only lost 1 game by 2 points to a team who had won 40 in a row.

These girls are skilled, fast, and strong. They might not win a game...but they will never lose!

You made comments in Sept...and now 3 months later...what a waste of time...you could have had a 24-7 thread about your daughter up and running.

                          Keep it going...

KB from Shadyside led her team in scoring w 15 as they remain unbeated. KF on the score board also for Sahdyside.

KH had 16 for JM the other night...Baby Blue's may square-up for the 1st time as JM and WC participate in JM Invitational.

                          Good luck to all !!!

                            Fun at JM Invitational

Kiley and Wick played well for JM. They did not look like freshman on the floor.

                            WOW!

Kiley had 15 points, 10 boards, looked almost as strong as senior Julie Young, who is a very impressive player. Wick used her incredible speed to limit Ty Harris' game to 13 points. Wick also had at least 7 points(havent received my paper yet).

For Central, frosh Beans played strong with key rebounds which spurred scoring spurts to eventual victory... frosh Emily, who played for Marshall County, also looked beyond her years on the court.

Central and JM square tonite...weather permitting!

great job girls. keep up the hard work which will payoff during tournament time. Saw NM play this year and they rarely went inside or relied on their post players. Put a team on the court that can run with fast, quick guards and who knows what happens. JM is quick and fast and when they are on they are tough to beat. Would love to see a northern team down state.
