Separate little off topic playoff tidbit I saw from last week. Massillon had 26 penalties against Big Walnut in their upset loss.

They had the number 1ranked schedule in division 2! How in the world did they lose? How did they commit that many penalties? The schedule should have prevented that from happening!

Yeah man, 26 penalties in one game. I bet they averaged that much all season. Crazy things never happen and Bigfoot is real.

Check the stats of play-off games. Many of the teams had 15 or more penalties. Many had over 100 yards in penalties. The refs controlled a lot of games.

Indian Valley had the 72nd ranked schedule in D4 that included such juggernauts as Buckeye Trail, Meadowbrook, Tusky Valley and the always formidable Ellet Orangemen (props for keeping the name). Oracle your thesis seems to lose some more steam every time I look this stuff up on Drew. I’m also going to go ahead and say that you don’t watch much valley football you just look at schedules and score compare which is an awful way to evaluate football teams.

Lose steam... why, because you dare to offer one opinion every 365 days? LMAO So a team makes it to the regional final with the #1 strength of schedule and loses by 7 in a game marred by penalties… and that brings down the entirety of the SOS argument as you see it? Give me a friggin’ break. St. C lost by 47 to a team whose SOS was just 10 better than theirs, Barnesville lost in Week 11 (91st vs. 40th). There are probably countless other examples I could draw upon but here you are like a true clown trying to say I lose steam b/c of ONE game, an anomaly, an outlier that just happens to weigh in favor of your puny little unsubstantiated opinion. You have no steam at all. You’re a tricycle with the training wheels still on. I watch games as I care to. I won the frickin’ pick’em last year. What have you done besides try to bring me down to feel good about yourself. GFY

I watched that Massillon game. Half of those penalties were Massillon OL moving before the snap, including at one point having it at BW 20 yard line I think and committing 4 straight. The announcers before the game even stated that BW is known for their D line shifting and drawing a lot of penalties. Massillons Wrs and Rbs were very frustrated with the line, and that’s putting it mildly! 3 or 4 of those penalties were the center Not snapping the ball on the right count. BW was in Massillons OL all night. That being said Massillon still had a chance at the end.

Didn’t Massillon only just get the monkey off their backs last year — their first championship since the playoffs began in the 70’s? They seem to be the high school version of the Cooper-era Buckeyes. Loaded w/ talent & most wins in Ohio all-time but can’t win the big game except once a decade.

I rolled Steubenville into the conversation b/c of the margin of defeat against Watterson in tandem w/ St. C getting their butts spanked. Unlike your opponent, I don’t expect IV to advance any further. Yes they are a solid team but this next round, as you know, separates the men from boys and I don’t think IV is quite that good. Watterson no doubt. Their game will be closer if nothing else IMO.
You might be wrong about IV not going further.

So you quote me on post 46 but not 72?

Possibly Liberty Center in D5 (they should be hungry; took quite an individual performance from Perry's QB last year to beat them and I don't buy into Ironton's hype at this level). Possibly Coldwater in D6 to upset Kirtland. MSML in D7 by a mile.
D4 — someone other than IV, my pick is still alive

That’s 5 out of 6 finalists on the bottom 3 games and I simply don’t think IV will take it all. They won by 9 points. That might’ve been the closest semifinal all night. Who did you predict or are you just here for the clown show?

As an alum, I picked IV. You said they wouldn't go further, you were wrong.

I agree with a lot of what you say but I would hope you could admit when you were wrong. Perkins beat Glenville by 2 so I'm not sure what margin of victory has to do with anything.

Sorry but I’m fresh out of cookies. You want me to admit I was wrong on IV but simultaneously do not wish to give me credit for being right on 5 other teams as well as the fact IV still might not win the division as I expect. I would think any fair assessment would take into consideration everything I’ve said — not just isolate one post and ignore another.

Margin of victory speaks to how evenly matched the teams were but I do see there were 4 other games decided by fewer than 9 points. Your game was very much in doubt with under 2 minutes to play — and the announcers were saying IV might’ve scored too soon at that, before the 2-pt conversion. Congrats to the Braves.

I'll come back and congratulate you if/when your title picks are correct and they very well be.

Like I said I agree with a lot of what you have said in this thread so I don't need a cookie. If you can't admit that you underestimated this Indian Valley team and they proved you wrong, that's on you.

Dude, I talked up IV plenty enough in the past week after their dominating win over St. C and a few weeks back. I simply don’t think they’re going to win it all and I could very well be right about that. That was my overarching prediction per post 72 which came way after the one you’re choosing to isolate — that, generally speaking, IV wouldn’t advance tonight and wouldn’t win the division. You’re being extremely anal in honing in on one sentence of one post just to get a confession out of me over tonight’s game while simultaneously refusing to give any credit about the 5 other teams I was right on and the fact I could still be right about IV losing next week. I’m not even officially wrong but you want a confession right now, which is ridiculous. Your team won, go have a beer.
